On December 10th, Amir Khan will defend his WBA & IBF title's against Lamont Peterson in what promises to be an intriguing fight. Lamont Peterson, a man with 31 fights with 29 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw is coming off a 12 round knockout win of Victor Cayo, a fight which was to determine who would be in Mandatory position to fight for the IBF crown. Notable fights Lamont Peterson has on his resume are a decision loss to Timothy Bradley, who is currently the WBO LWW title holder and a draw against Victor Ortiz, who went on to face Floyd Mayweather.

Amir Khan, a man with 27 fights, 26 wins and 1 loss makes his final hurrah at 140 pounds against Lamont Peterson in Washington D.C. Amir Khan over the past few years has had a roller coaster journey, from suffering a 1st round KO loss to the man called Breidis 'Khanquerer' Prescott to moving on to fight tough Ukranian Andreas Kotelnik and capture the WBA Light-Welterweight trinket. Soon after, Amir Khan made his Debut in America in May of 2010, where he took on Paulie Malignaggi in his native city of New York and then went on to beat hard punching Marcos Maidana and in his last fight, score a knockout of veteran, Zab 'Super' Judah.

I don't think it was a position that was highly valued, Rico.

Arena being looked at is Verizon Center

Seats about 21,000. Not sure they can draw anything close to that. Don't think it would be too ideal.

The Location is brilliant. Lamont is a Washington fighter. So is Seth Mitchell, who is on the undercard. It's just the arena that may not be ideal. Beautiful arena, though

They should find a 10K seater.

Yeah but with a lot of American fighters it doesnt matter if they fight in their yard or not because very few can actually sell tickets. No matter where in America this fight takes place though its going to be a hard sell because of the opponent.
Wish Amir had vacated tbh and made his debut at 147.Alexander in the Lou would have been a 10,000 sell out:hey

Nah, it seats 20K for Basketball, so it's probably about 21K for Boxing. And it doesn't really look like a 12K, does it?

There hasn't been a big fight in Washington for a long time! We don't know what it might draw. I think it'll do alright.

**** that. Amir could win every round and still get robbed there.

I cant see it doing well.Nothing to do with Amir its just Peterson is a nobody. If the Malignaggi fight in NY only did 4,412 I cant see this doing better unless Khan has a lot more fans heading over.
Washington like Detroit(Where Bradley/Alexander took place)is dead boxing wise.
If they sell 3,000 tickets I think that would be pretty good.

    Lol true that.

Is it Washington or Detroit that Schaefer said had a strong Muslim population? Maybe that, alongside Peterson being a hometown fighter, was part of the reason they went for Washington :think

I don't expect it, but lets say Khan wins a 7-5 or 8-4 kind of fight with some hard to score rounds. I suspect it could get interesting on the judges scorecards. Yes Khan is with GBP and the bigger star, but at the end of the day he is a Brit fighting in the US, and not only that, he is now fighting in Lamont's hometown.

The Khan-Maidana scorecards have already shown that Khan doesn't get any favoritism in the US.

    ****stani-Americans supporting Khan? Makes sense.

Would arabs, iranians, etc go to see Khan fight? I doubt it :think
