Did i really say that? lol. Nah, Ray Leonard would've been too good for Mayweather. Floyd would do better against Ray then someone like Tommy Hearns, but i'm struggling to find a welterweight who would've beat Leonard in the last 6 decades.

Btw, people maybe surprised by me saying Norris would beat Mayweather but the thing is, If you could not hurt Terry Norris you would usually be in serious trouble. I know Floyd's power is underrated somewhat, but I am not so sure he would be able to hurt Terry enough to keep him off. Terry was a better boxer than anyone Floyds fought, plus he's a seriously sharper more compact puncher.

Norris could bench press 300lbs (he was doing that before the Mugabi fight) that's just how strong he was physically even though he didn't look it and he could fight so many ways. Very good on the inside too.

You had to badly hurt him to win, Floyd throws about 40 punches a round so i can't see him winning a decision and he wouldn't get Terry's respect enough IMO. Floyd might be better historically but Norris would be really tough for him. Terry Norris was also one of the best finishers I have ever seen. He wouldn't let you off the hook if he hurt you and a brillient combination puncher, good variety, with a right hand and left hook that was difficult to slip.

That matchup is an ATG welterweight against a smaller guy who ended up at welterweight and then picked his fights carefully....

When you picked Mayweather to beat Leonard at 147 I figured you were either trolling or you were hating. Either way its a vote loser......;)

Was it any worse then Haye vs. Liston? ;)

Seriously though, it would just have been a survival job wouldn't it, for Floyd. Leonard was just better in every department, not only that he had what Mayweather doesn't in that "dawg" in him, he just had more bottle for combat. Would Floyd be able to step to Hearns the way Ray Leonard did? absolutely no chance and that's what separates them. He probabily would stop Mayweather, certainly in a 15 rounder.

Leonard was really a boxing genius, i recently watched his fights with Benitez and Hearns 1 again and i got chills. The adjustments he made were incredible. That Hearns win is just HUGE, it showed so many qualities.

Hearns and Leonard are very evenly matched and it's even more harder to outbox Hearns then Leonard, so what Ray Leonard figured out was he had longer and better lung capacity then Tommy.

Hearns could never beat Leonard in a 15 round fight because of this very reason and you can even see that in the rematch...What Leonard brilliently realized was that Hearns was not the same puncher in close that he was from a distance and because he had better stamina and could fight through his second wind he could step to him and dig body shots home.

There is no way that Floyd Mayweather with his 40 punches a round and cageyness would beat that Ray Leonard and i apologize for even suggesting it. I should've known better. I've never said Mayweather would beat Leonard in front of my ole man btw, he would go crazy. lol

norris had serious mental issues, he was a loose wire and would go absolutely ape**** once he had a guy hurt this isnt killer instinct, its more like a man who doesnt know how to control his aggression,
i know he had skills etc and i recognise him to be an ATG 154 fighter, but the fact he never fought a disciplined fight 90% of the time he'd throw caution to the wind and trade, i think your not taking into consideration how bad it does for his standing for some1 to get heavily dropped by nothing more then a mere contender and then have his chin exposed by simon brown who's best days were back at 147 back in the 80s and was just considered a routine fight for terry, He's lucky he never fought julio cesar vasquez.

I think you're putting too much emphasis on being dropped by a very good contender he eventually destroyed in 3 rounds, that's just nitpicking. You are also so wrong on Norris' "mental issues". Norris was extremely strong mentally, ask people in the know and anyone who's familiar with Norris' career. If he had "mental issues" he wouldn't have achieved (ATG 154 pound fighter, in your words) what he did bearing in mind his vulnerabilities. On the contrary Terry was actually so mentally strong it made him a bit of a mean SOB. He had that mean streak that any fighter with killer instinct has. There's an old saying; the best soldiers are volunteers, Norris was the type who would knock someone out for free.

Let me tell you my favorite Terry Norris moment and it showcased his mental strength. It was when he beat Paul Vaden. Vaden was a bully from the same neighbourhood of Terry and it was a real grudge match. Apparently Vaden and Norris had a serious feud over a woman and crossed paths in their youth. Norris stepped away from attacks and really punished Vaden. I don't know what your definition of killer instinct is, but someone with a killer instinct is known for being a good finisher and sensing when the opponent is hurt and not letting them of the hook. Terry had that in abundance. Over the last 30 years he is in the top 5 or 6 among finishers. He wasn't reckless when going for the kill, he did everything a good finisher would do. In the main he didn't lose his technique or punching form. Watch the footage.

Anyway, we're getting into semantics. Lets just agree that Terry Norris was one bad man who had serious skills and vulnerabilities which make him so good to watch. He's also a consensus great at light middle probabily only bettered by Hearns and perhaps McCallum. Not bad is it? I say lets salute Terrible Terry Norris. :good
