So would it be fair to say Maidana is the biggest puncher at 140?... top 3 maybe?

I dont think Khan will let Maidana land anything big at all while Khan jabs his head off, then after about 6/7 rounds, a weary Maidana walks onto a right hand and gets dropped. Then a ref stoppage soon after.

that is the point really, he could hurt corley, but he couldnt finish him off.

that is what im saying, he might catch khan, he might drop him at some point, but he wont finish him off. he doesnt have the power to do so.

and laz, you say im being a bit silly, but i still see no example of maidana knocking a man out cold.

his body punching i am a fan of. that is the danger. not khans chin, but his stamina when taking body shots

Prescott wasn't a huge puncher either. Who has he knocked cold at world level other than Khan? Who at b-level has he even stopped? Compare his record to Maidana's.

it doesnt matter, because he did knock out khan. pre-fight everyone thought it was another cherry pick. he proved us wrong and sparked amir.

maidana has an opportunity to prove me wrong. but i dont see it. i dont need to compare records for anyone, i go off what i see. i have seen prescott spark amir. i havent seen maidana spark anyone.

You are totally wrong man. If Maidana floors Khan, he will finish him off. Khan gets bambi legs off a jab for Christ's sake. And let's not forget, P4P hardest puncher Randall Bailey couldn't KO Corley.

as for that post by leon RE khan's power. it isnt anything special, btut he speed of his punches makes up for it so i can easily picture him stopping maidana early on.

ye he gets hurt in fights, but hes only been finished once. limond, gomez couldnt finish him off. they both had him really hurt.

i dont think maidana can finish him either, he isnt good enough.

bailley did lose to corley back in the day. but since then corley has had his head removed by hernandez in a kayo so brutal he really should have retired after it.

corley would not last 12 rounds with khan.

    Lufcrazy;

Not too long ago, Maidana fought virtually undefeated goldenboy prospect Victor Ortiz. At one point in that fight, Maidana punched Ortiz really hard in the face, and Ortiz went down. After that, he punched Ortiz really hard in the face again, and again Ortiz went down.

After that, Maidana fought undefeated Victor Cayo. Not too far into the fight, Maidana punched Cayo really hard in the face and knocked him down. Not long after that, he punched Cayo really hard in the body, and Cayo went down. He didn't get back up.

There's two essentially undefeated prospects that Marcos Maidana stopped with hard punches. 2 top level fighters, stopped.

Before fighting Amir Khan, Breidis Prescott was coming off two wins; A split decision win over an 11 fight novice, in which he barely scraped past a fighter who went on to lose to another novice 3 fights later. Before that win, Prescott stopped Anibal Polanco (4-5-3) who had been knocked out twice beforehand, and was essentially a club fighter. Now if you are saying that Maidana is not a hard puncher because he hasn't KO'd anyone at the top level, and this is why he can't knock Khan out, then what about Breidis Prescott's pre Khan fights against a novice and a club fighter? Both of which he could not knock out cold. He barely scraped past a guy who had 11 fights and lost a few fights later. My conclusion is not a difficult one to come to: Maidana is a much bigger puncher than Breidis Prescott.

Now why do you not believe that Maidana can KO Khan, when a fighter who is a lighter puncher than him, and has a much worse record against quality opponent than him, did so within a round?

    That's becase Limond & Gomez are feather-fisted. Prescott wasn't. Maidana isn't. It's quite simple.

pre-fight noone expected prescott to kayo khan. he proved everyone wrong.

pre-fight i do not expect maidana to kayo khan, he has the same opportunity to prove me wrong.

the truth is prescott was unproven in terms of power, had khan beaten him he'd have gotten zero credit for it. but he didnt, prescott pulled out the upset. and an upset it was. khan was young, inexperienced and fought with his heart on his sleeve, he got punished. im not saying his chin has got any better, what i'm saying is, maidana is not the man to shatter it.

call it a hunch, call it an ill-conceived view of his fights so far, call it me being a bit silly, call it whatever you want. but something tells me that maidana is not gonna be able to put khan out.

if i'm wrong, i'll take it. no worries there. but i am quite sure that maidana is a hype job who's power is being massively overrated.
