Bradley and McCoskley are in different leagues!

People are asking Khan to fight world class fighters and when your asking £15 for people to watch you fight i dont think the fans are asking for to much! We dont want another 70second first round ko again which this fight wont last 3 rounds.

Dont know why everyone is getting so upset.
McCloskey is actually a pretty decent fighter!

    He far superior to Prescott!

Well, it's up to the people to pay for that should they wish to. Nobody is forcing you to pay for it if you don't think it's worthy of your cash. I'm not saying McCloskey is in the same league as Bradley, I'm saying there is nothing wrong with fighting a legit top 10 contender in McCloskey as a stay busy fight between Maidana and Bradley.

Charging £15 for it is another matter. I do expect Khan to win comfortably, but he can't be blamed for being a top fighter can he?

I suggest people familiarise themselves with the meaning of 'tune-up'. Here, I've just googled it for you and come across the following:

So the main purpose of this 'tune-up', is for Khan to get another training camp under his belt, keep his young body active and fit, get accustomed to a new style, and ultimately, be better prepared for the biggest night of his career against Timothy Bradley. To realise how important this is, simply look at what happend in their preperation for the last fight. In their failure to secure a keep-busy bout before Maidana, Khan remained idle for 8 months, over-trained when the fight came, and eventually revealed he still had many flaws in his game in a fight which he almost lost. You all saw his weaknesses, and immediately after, you all criticised him for them. So here he is now, trying to iron them out, and you're all bashing him for it? :huh

And for those of you who are mocking Paul McCloskey, you're doing so without even having watched a fight of his, and you're suggesting a guy like Prescott instead :)lol:). He obviously isn't on the same level as the Petersons etc, but he's more than worthy enough to be a tune-up (see definition above).

mc closkey is a consensus top 10 light welter

Not a sanctioning body top 10, but a Ring magazine one - and if the Ring are prepared to put him there, a fighter that has never fought on US TV he must be ok

As a Irish fan, i would love it if Khan was beaten but realistically he should win but fighting 3 top 10 light welters in a row? Whats wrong with that?

I dont even think this is a tune up, just a world title fight

I'm not fussed on the fight but Khan has been a bit of a comeback king, so if he wants to tune up now against McCloskey then so be it. I won't buy the fight but I'm looking forward to him fighting Bradley. Also, lets not forget that Khan is coming off his hardest fight to date during which he basically proved half of this forum wrong. People who are saying McCloskey is **** probably don't know anything about him. He isn't on Khan's level, but he isn't a can by any means. If you don't like the idea of the fight, then don't buy it. Register your 'disgust' if you have but try not to come over like a moaning old woman and at least try and have some objective views of the fight and what comes after this.

The same Ring Magazine that rates Bradley as #1 rates Mccloskey as Top 10.

Why blame the fighter for your own ignorance of Euro-level talent?

I'm afraid not, pal. I don't think Paul will cope with the speed of Khan, but I hope he performs to his best ability.

I had a look at that McCloskey highlight, and he looks better than I had assumed he would be. Fairly quick. He also seemed to favour the uppercut in those clips...threw it quite a bit, and wasn't Khan eating multiple uppercuts from Maidana? Two very different fighters, of course, but still interesting. Maybe this fight could be useful in giving Khan more experience with in-fighting, assuming McCloskey is able to close the range and do work on the inside. Maidana was able to time Khan's left-hand shots with counter overhand rights...would be interesting to see if that weakness still exists.

On the minus side, McCloskey's shots sometimes look a little wide, leaving him more open for counters.
