I'm glad that Klitschko/Haye fell through so Khan could fight McCloskey!

McCloskey is a decent fighter, he has had some good performances but lacks a victory over a top/decent contender.

But I do love the ignorance here, the general living to form. Because none of you guys from North America have heard of him that automatically makes him ****, please he is a southpaw with a good awkward style with decent speed and enough pop to hurt Khan. The key is if Khan can work him out quickly and can land because McCloskey keeps his hands very low.

To me this fight is more interesting then a Peterson fight, Peterson is a good fighter but he has been proven to be below elite level and it's not as if he has anything inbetween those fights to sugar coat his record. He has won 1 in 3 people and has not won a proper fight (Fuller does not count, he was at the end of his career, out of his natural weight divison and out of form) since Early 09. Against Bradley he was competitive but clearly lost and was not of the same standard, and he would and should have lost (pretty much everyone scored it for Victor) against Ortiz if he didn't mentally lose it towards the end.

naw i hear you all the way, where my beef is, is that amir ran his mouth, to me its better to just shut up and do you job, but to run your mouth and go in another direction is just being a lil punk....i know this is a stay busy and it shouldn't b nothing, but khan claims prescott would b easy so y not....all i'm sayin....he's being like lil floyd and contradicts himself

 I'm not getting hurt over anything, mate.

Prescott got outclassed by Mitchell. He needs to earn it before he steps up with Khan.

Yeah, Prescott blasted him out in 54, yes, Khan said he'll fight him, but after he does something to prove he's worth fighting for a belt!

Who's Prescott to call Khan out after 2 shameful losses? Shame on him.

What do you think his intentions are? Genuinely beating Khan? Or wanting a pay-day?

    I wonder.

Prescott has done equally as bad in calling Khan out, especially after 2 losses.

No. The Royal wedding which will be taking place in that same month was also a contributing factor. Plus, it's not the fight itself which Sky were refusing to move, it was the fighter (Khan). He had that date book way before Wlad and Haye began negotiating, so it's not easy for Sky to go to him and say "Sorry, Amir, but you're going to have re-schedule your plans. We're giving your slot to someone else". Because Khan's got 2 more fights scheduled with them in 2011, and many more in the years to come. They'd much prefer to keep him happy, than a David Haye who gave everyone that Harrison debacle, and is planning on retiring this year.

Completely unknown (or close to it) as far as I know. Hell, I consider myself a massive boxing fan and even I'd never heard of him until his name came up for this Khan fight.

    :huh

He has headlined Friday Fight Night 4 times. He isn't a big name but he will bring in PPV Buys from Ireland and he will be good to sell a few tickets.

I see. I don't put much stock into sanctioning body rankings, but if you've seen him and you've determined he's top 10ish I'll take your word(because I haven't seen him at all).

Let me throw 10 names out, and I'm not throwing these names out to say "oh he's not better than these guys", I just want to see where you would rank him among these guys: Bradley, Maidana, Khan, Peterson, Alexander, Judah, Ortiz, Kotelnik, Matthysese, Urango. Out of those 10, where would you slide him in? Urango is just a name I threw out there...I think he might be retired, apparently he bought a pig farm in Colombia and his promoter hasn't heard from him in a while.

Also, lets say hypothetically McCloskey was facing Witter instead of Khan on April 16th, would you expect McCloskey to win with ease?

I just want to set a level of expectation.

exactly, amir shouldn't even had said nothing, especially because prescott is a nobody and is just looking for that high profile fight. just like how **** drinker always cries about manny not wanting to fight, manny isn't avoiding him, he's just not even noticing him cuz he aint even on the level where he's at, just like amir should've done, just keep quiet and don't even bother with those who are beneth you, but as soon as he opened his mouth and said it'd b easy was when I started to say hold up, that's all, like I said earlier, I think fighters should just do their job and show up it in the ring, don't talk then do something else

    Ran his mouth? :huh

You mean responding to Breidis Prescott's continuous call-outs in the media. So Khan's not allowed to respond to someone who's trash-talking him?

And running in the opposite direction? :huh

Khan's only ever been going in one direction, and that's to unify one of the most talented division in boxing. Prescott's just in his rear-view mirror, failing miserably in his attempt to get back on his bike that was knocked over by Mitchell and Vasquez a year ago.

Like I said, he doesn't need to fight Prescott at the moment.
