man, please benn v's eubank can never be surpassed ! but you do have a point in terms of public interest though, could be good for mainstreaming the sport again. ask the general public sport fans to name a british boxer, most would come up with these two names straight away (well behind the ones who still think bruno is heavyweight champ!):rofl perhaps our lame terrestial t.v companies will suddenly wake up and take action to secure coverage, and not let us down (froch/taylor):fire
Good fight to publicise boxing. But thats all. Alot of smoke and mirrors with this one in my opinion and doesnt interest me too much. Khan brings fast hands and a semi porous defence and Hatton brings his bullish maruading style. Interesting style match up but doesnt do much for Hattons career.
It doesnt do much for Hatton's career but it sure would for his bank account. You could get 80k fans at Wembley no problem Hatton will also fancy his chances big time. Frank Warren is already making moves by saying that Ricky should retire i.e. Your past it mate, come and prove me wrong
No. Not even close. Cooper v Bugner Bugner v Bruno Eubank v Watson 2 (was huge the whole national press built it up) Eubank v Benn Lewis v Bruno (Sky billed it as "in years to come people will ask were were you when Lewis fough Bruno" I can still remember)
in terms of revenue yes because other great domestic dust ups never had the PPV option and the gate would be huge would be the best fight for hatton if he's to have one last fight, he would want ideally a fight he can win that makes the most amount of money and Hatton vs Khan fits that bill
Revenue wise it would be the biggest without a doubt. Benn vs Eubank 2 is considered the biggest British fight of them all - first time two British fighters fought to unify the division, with both holding a title, the bad blood etc - yet Benn only got paid £1,000,000 (only!) and Eubank got even less. If they fought today they would be gaining 10x that...at least.
