Richard Schafer recently said that possible opponents for Khan if the Bradley fight doesn't happen are possibly Zab Judah, Lamont Petersen or lightweight sensation Robert Guerro. Surey Goldenboy, Freddie Roach, Team Khan and even Amir himself must surely have seen Guerro's massively impressive win over the dangerous Michael Katsidis last month and if they have any brains whatsoever he's definitely not a fighter they want to mix it up with, Khan was made to look ordinary by a southpaw in Paul McCloskey, think how Guerro would make him look. That aside, I hope it happens cos I just want to see Khan flattened again
Khan would beat Guerrero quite convincingly, Katsidis has more chance of beating Khan than guerrero does (even though guerrero would beat Katsidis most times). This is quite simple to the 'punch factor', Katsidis has the power to KO Khan, whereas for guerrero it would be much tougher to get him out with a big punch. Again it's got to do with styles; big punchers are Khan's sort of kryptonite. Although I'd favour Khan to do a job on both Katsidis and Guerrero.
Khan just has to delay his jump in weight, it's simple. He can fight a few different guys and receive credit, off top of my head i'd accept fights vs: alexander, peterson, maidana, matthyse, judah, jmm with my preference being prescott. Ideally he'll take on prescott, fight bradley for the vacant championship before jumping up and taking on ortiz.
I like Khan-Guerrero. It's a good fight and either of them could win. If Bradley doesn't happen then I think I'd like this the most.
Guerrero has fine boxings skills and is well battle tested at this point but isn't massively fast or in possession of the kind of power that keeps Khan up at night, He was able to make easy work of Katsidis because he comes straight at you and if you can keep your nerve you should out box him, which he wouldn't be able to easily do with Khan. Of course Khan's only had a handful of fights where the opponant wasn't chosen specifically because he had no chance so a prime, game, quality fighter who has equal skills and isn't there just to fill the other corner would be a big challenge for him. I think he'd probably just about win that one, I'd like to see it more than Bradley vs Khan personally, there's something remarkably uninteresting about Tim Bradley I just have no desire to ever see him fight.
Khan would dominate Guerrero IMO. I'd be more intrigued by Judah, who's a wicked puncher early and can cause Khan more problems.
