RM: It’s a big week for you. In addition to Kelly’s return, it looks like Timothy Bradley’s July 23 title unification with Amir Khan on HBO is on the rocks. Apparently, Khan’s team issued a statement saying you have until 4 PM on Wednesday to agree to terms or the fight is cancelled.

CD: Richard Schaefer, who has Amir Khan, gave us a deadline until 4 PM Wednesday to make a decision, so I talked to Timothy last Thursday. I called him this morning and we’ll see about talking today.

RM: Would you be prepared to walk away from the $1.3 million deal on the table?

CD: It’s not about the money. It is but it’s not. It’s about where he’s going after this and what’s next for [Bradley]. The example was fighting Devon Alexander. HBO was telling us if he wins this fight, he’ll be a superstar in boxing, so we said we’ll fight it because we have nothing else.

So then I asked, “Where are we going after that?” and they responded, “Well we don’t know but we’ll do a two-fight deal.” There’s no plan! It’s just, “Let’s get a fight.”

So Timmy’s now telling me that he fights Alexander and he wins but the guy he beat gets to fight a guy who lost (Lucas Matthysse) and he only gets paid $150,000 less than me and he gets on HBO in the main event? He beat him! Timmy always asks me, “I won, didn’t I?” Alexander gets on TV a month before Timmy. Timmy’s wondering now if it would have been better had he lost.

Look at HBO. Seriously. Paul Williams got blown out in two rounds and got a “World Championship Boxing” main event on July 9. Something’s f**king wrong.

M: Speaking of your promoter, how is Bradley’s relationship with Gary Shaw at this point?

CD: No one’s happy with the way he’s promoted him. Timmy wants to make it clear that it’s not about the money. Does he want to get paid well? Yeah, but it’s a risky fight but he really just wants to know he’s going somewhere. He’s certainly not against taking this fight. He just wants to know what happens next if he wins but also what happens if he loses. Will he be f**ked out of the business or what?

RM: Is Bradley a free agent?

CD: I really don’t know all of that. The only thing we’re going talk about is this fight and what happens if he takes it or doesn’t because then, is there any other option with other opponents? Should he fight on HBO or another network? He’s going to have to make a decision on what he wants to do.

Bradley has absolutley plummeted in my estimations after reading that , for several reasons :deal

In pure leymans terms based on that theory what your saying is that Bradley after all this fuss about Khan this and Khan that is now saying im not going to fight you now because i can fight a bum , get paid hansomely for it and then fight Khan for roughly a similar purse ??!!

Horse **** !!! , take away the particulars , if Bradley is true to his word he'll be confident of beating Khan which in itself is a sure bet to pick up another six figure payday the very next fight against a top level fighter (in theory) , add to that , no facts no figures $1.3M is on the table to fight Amir Khan in a unification , this is the fight he's been screaming from the roof tops he wants even before Alexander , now its there with a good solid purse and he's effectively saying no !!!!!

Bradley has a bright future in the sport of boxing , why does he need HBO to hold his hand , Bob Arum would take him to TR tomorrow and them boys havent done so bad between ST and HBO now have they ??

Its a ****in pathetic statement , he may well just come out and say , HBO made a promise and im gonna keep them to there word even if it means ducking Khan for now

**** poor? He would be stupid to take the fight now for $100k more. It doesn't make business sense, and that's what it's all about. People moan about how fighters are stupid with their money when we hear stories about Roy Jones, Riddick Bowe etc but when a kid makes the right decision like this he's labelled a 'ducker'. :roll:

 

Fact is this Bradley has been singing about Khan for 12 months , Khan is on the table with a $1.3M fight purse , if Bradley beats him he's almost guarantee'd a bigger purse and more lucrative contract with HBO the day later .

Instead he's taking them up on there offer of ensuring he makes $1M+ against a bum , then taking Khan for a somewhat similar purse incase he loses the Khan fight , or should i say because the Khan fight will be a tough one .
