Amir Khan vs Victor Ortiz

Didn't Khan whip Ortiz ass in the amateurs?

 

Khan has the better technique and is quicker. Ortiz brings the firepower. I'd think Khan's better boxing ability is the difference and he wins the decision but I think Victor can rock him at times because of his power.

 

Ortiz that night didn't fight like he usually does, usually its slower, and he takes break's like he did with lamont when he gave Peterson about 2 rounds trying to find his rhythm. With berto he wasn't patient at all he was ****ing possessed and gave berto 12 hard rounds, a different ortiz then Ive seen before. He took risks to unleash his bombs and keep berto off of his plan... but with risks sometimes you fail and he got caught twice, but he pulled trough and the higher the risk the greater the reward, he was rewarded with the WW belt...

Only the haters hate on Ortiz, truth is he is a different animal now.

 

Ortiz would have to KO Khan b/c he ain't gonna outbox him.

 

I'm not sure. Berto was never considered a good fighter in any stretch. Most of everyone here considered him a paper champ, a mere titlist. First guy who came at him that was any good in a long while, he got his behind kicked.

Khan has already brutally beaten Ortiz, but that was in the amateurs so I wouldn't put any stock in it.

Anybody saying Ortiz is a different animal, but won't say that Khan is also a different animal now is reaching.

Khan survived through Maidana. Something Ortiz failed to do.

Ortiz only did very well with Berto because their styles meshed and the man he fought lacked the same warrior heart that Maidana had in spades.

If you look at his previous fight with somebody who could box, the fight was a stinker and most of you guys started writing Ortiz off already.

Don't overrate Ortiz like he's the best welterweight in the world. Don't overrate Khan's amateur win like it means anything.

That said, Khan showed heart in his fight against Maidana. I can only use that fight as a gauge, as well as Khan's natural talent, so I will lean towards him in a 147 match.

That IS if Ortiz doesn't get ruined by Money with their fight.

Pretty sure Ortiz is going to get ruined by Money unless Money has slid so far away from his old self due to retirement.

Because if Money solves Ortiz in their fight splendidly, you can be sure that Roach is going to use that gameplan and beat Ortiz with Khan far sooner like he did with Hatton and Pacquiao.

 

Khan's style should work against most fighters including Ortiz because of his punch rate. Only a slick, accurate counterpuncher with great D should be able to beat him (Floyd, Cotto minus the D and also way too big). Pacman is the only guy who might be able keep up with the punch rate against him.

Khan should face Marquez after Pac does so we can compare the two fights.

 

I'll take Ortiz, his physicality and aggression would be too much for Khan, even though Khan is fine fighter.

 

Khan UD 115-113. Would be a cracking scrap. These two are the future of the WW division.

 

I see your argument. I think Khan nicks it but Ortiz could overwehlm Amir.

 

Khan would pick Ortiz apart from the outside.

After McCloskey fight I would've picked Ortiz but last night Khan proved to me that he's future super star.

Too fast and skilled for Ortiz.

 

He used it less than he should have, but there were spots where it opened up opportunities for him, and his corner was asking for it. My point is, he'd find ways to pressure Khan and make him think twice and hesitate, where he could then press the advantage.

Ortiz has less refined boxing skills and is slower on foot, but he's got comparable hand-speed that he can use with bigger power behind them, and a newly proven toughness and drive. I'd say Ortiz can take Khan's best shot better than the other way around. Great fight. If Khan could out-box Ortiz, I think he would ascend to the next level. Assuming Ortiz himself maintains his quality as a fighter within the next year or two and maybe improves himself

 

Tough hard fight for both men. But Khan gets the decision in the end.

 

I'm still not sold on Khan's toughness. I still remember the 10th RD with Maidana that almost ended in a stoppage if Maidana hadn't run out of gas. If Ortiz was able to get Khan to feel his power early in the fight Khan may not be the same fighter that was overwhelming Judah. But Ortiz was getting hit with some bombs from Berto and was still bringing it. So at this time if I were to choose who would win in a fight between the Khan that beat Judah or the Ortiz that beat Berto. I say Ortiz by KO. But I'm not confident in the answer.

Maybe these two will go on to be the top P4P fighters in the sport after Money and Pacman retire.
