Amir Khan vs Victor Ortiz

If Ortiz has a good enough showing against Mayweather, win or lose, the Khan fight might be in the cards. Styles make fights, so its hard to say Khan wins easily. These days the magnitude of the fight could change the boxers mentaility - looks terrirble against a mediocre fighter but comes back strong against a really good fighter.
From what I saw last night, Khan used all his advantages and he stuck to the plan. If Judah did anything different, like punch, then maybe things would have been different in that Khan tends to get egotistical.
Freddie Roach is a very good coach. Any time a good boxer follows the coaches plan, it should be money in the bank. And so far, with Khan and Pac, it has been.

 

The version of Ortiz that fought Berto, stops Khan, IMO. I can't see Khan (based on how I've seem him deal with pressure) keeping that Ortiz, who seemed almost possessed, off of him. Not to mention, Ortiz has good technique as well. Inside, his uppercuts would find their mark. Also, Ortiz is naturally bigger and stronger at 147, than Khan would be, I think. But, if Ortiz tries to outbox Khan, I can see a clear UD for Khan.

 

Ortiz would quit around round 7-10

 

Khan would stick that jab to Vic's face all night long and pepper him with combos. Berto just flat out sucks and he doesn't have half the stamina Khan has. Khan is too fast and too good for Ortiz.

 

Like he stuck the jab in Maidana's face all night long? Not so sure about that.
Ortiz has much better footwork than Maidana, and can fight inside. He would get to Khan at some point in the fight.

 

Khan is a level above Ortiz.

That would surely play on Ortiz's already fragile mindset

 

I think many posters don't realise just how good a fighter Paul McCloskey is.

 

yea cuz Ortiz is as tough and has a similar style than maidna's. Ortiz can take a shot or two but believe me he ain't as tough as Maidana who eats punches like M&M's and was able to walk through anything Khan threw. i don't see Ortiz walking thru Khan's punches.

 

Khan would win IMHO, I tthink he might actually stop Ortiz.

 

PFP i rate Kahn higher.. And at 140 ill take him over ORtiz.... At 147 its a pickem fight.

 

Khan would get caught with a counter right hand and go to sleep when both go into rockem sockem exchanges.

 

I'm not saying they are the same fighter. I was saying that Khan had a slower, less coordinated fighter (than Ortiz) walking him down, in straight lines, and he was not keeping him at bay with the jab, all night long. In fact, he was taking ridiculously flush shots, that had him nearly out on his feet.

Let me remind you, I was comparing the extremely determined Ortiz we saw against Berto, who would simply not be denied. Berto is not as sharp of a puncher as Khan, of course. But, Berto can crack, and could not keep Ortiz down with huge punches. That Ortiz would find Khan in the fight, eventually, and has the size and pedigree to test Khan's mettle, and even stop him.

Good fight and I'm leaning towards Ortiz by KO. Khan won't have much if any height/reach advantage like he did against Maidana or Judah.
