Round 4 Russell is working the straight left to the body, landing very loudly with it. Estrada circles away and tries to clap down on Russell while quickly scurrying in. Russell just dodges and counters. Everything about Russell is fast - his punches, his reflexes, and his walking. HUGE LEFT CROSS by Russell, and Estrada dips against the ropes but stays up. Russell wails on him to the body and head. Estrada circles out and Russell calms down. Estrada holds his left hand out, waving it in a slight hatchet motion, looking to catch or parry jabs. Russell is throwing nasty combos, putting right hooks right behind the southpaw 1-2 and then putting on a flourish with vicious straight lefts or uppercuts. 40-36 Russell
Another dominant round for Russell. What can you say about this kid? Crisp punches, combinations, great body work, countering, slipping, footwork, etc... Really putting on a boxing clinic right now.
i get to watch this in the morning Closing this when the khan fight comes on so i don't ruin it and waste my money!
Round 5 Estrada is trying his best, hooking to the body but just way too slow. Russell is walking him down and popping him with left hands - all efficient, nothing wasted. Russell is throwing shorter combos now, just a hook and a left hand here and there. Estrada is almost matching his output, but still getting out-connected by a large margin. Russell is able to simply step a full circle around him while Estrada is winding up a single punch. Huge disparity in quickness, it can't be stressed enough. I don't think Estrada is even that slow for the division, really. 50-45
Broner would get smoked IMO. Even now. Although Russell's handlers will probably season him just a bit more before stepping him up to that level. The fat cats usually get exceedingly careful with big time potential meal tickets like this.
Round 6 Russell is doubling both the jab and the left hand. Russell is standing in front of him, leaning in on bent front knee and throwing fast combos before swerving back out of the pocket. Russell's hands are down but he isn't even coming close to getting hit with anything by Estrada. Russell is popping up and down, very springy as he pops off quick straight shots with decent torque on them. Estrada walks through a few guard-piercing jabs. Huge left hook to the face. Estrada keeps coming, but Russell doesn't appear tired despite his constant motion. 60-54 Russell
Round 7 Estrada lifts his arm up past shoulder level and spoons down a hard left hook, drilling Russell in the arm with it. They trade a few shots up close, with Estrada finally landing more than one at a time. Russell lands a solid right hook to the body while backing out of the exchange, and Estrada's legs slip out behind him. The commentators initially think it was a slip, but Joe Cortez rules it a knockdown and gives Estrada a count. Estrada seems surprised and confused, but Cortez tells him "No, you got hit with a body shot". Russell keeps working Estrada over with his quick 1-2 and more colorful and creative combos. Estrada throws a lead right into the gloves of Russell, caught as if Russell were an experienced coach working the mitts with a novice. Estrada then reaches around and slaps with a left hook to the body, which Russell isn't really worried about. Russell focuses his defense on catching those slow right hands, and countering very quickly. He just paints Estrada's face as if Eric was a kid at the Sunday fair. Seriously, there's a butterfly on his cheek and a little unicorn on his forehead. 10-8 70-62
