From his early pro career he did not look like a fighter who could beat Kotelnik in this manner and indeed many had Kotelnik 'schooling' Khan in this fight.

Amir put in a near flawless performance that was levels above anything he has ever done. I thought he was awesome on saturday night and congratulate him on his performance.

At 22 he is a world champion and beat a solid fighter to win the belt.
The champ formerly decisively beat Gavin Rees to win the belt.
While Gavin Rees got some praise for winning a world title (limited ability, done well to get that far etc.)
it seems the feeling is not quite the same for Amir Khan.

Is it purely because of personality that people hate on Khan?

I know people don't rate him highly in boxing terms because of his suspect chin but the way he fought on Saturday he protected himself much better than he ever had before.

He's 22 a world champ who has been defeated and come back to triumph.
He has made the move to work in the states with freddie roach.
He wants to be in the mix for big fights like JMM, why are there not more people behind him?

Usually we are saying this guy's no good he is ducking the best.
When you see and hear khan on the tv he was always talking of being the youngest world champ from the uk he is always trying to push himself faster to a higher level. It is usually Warren who rightly (from a promoting point of view) wants to slow him down.

But the support is not there for Amir Khan :huh

The head movement and bobbing and weaving in the eighth was something else and my highlight of the fight. I loved Roach's face afterwards, it looked like he was trying really hard not to smile!

I was most impressed by this also, the head movement from him and that he took a couple of clean shots from Kotelnik.

Other than that, the fight ran exactly as I predicted with Khan being way too fast for Kot, I predicted either a TKO within the first 6 rds from a long flurry by an over-zealous hometown ref or it would go on to an easy UD for Khan.

    Good on him.

But don't be kidded, a lot of Khans flurries were landing on Kotelniks solid guard and he never looked like he had the power to KO Kotelnik. Good win against a decent level fight.

I hope he continues that form against that level of opposition and does not get stuck in a Frank Warren cherrypick bonanza ... which Morales certainly would be the start off.

I picked a Khan UD as well and have been smug about it ever since!:D Also, with regards to not landing shots, admittedly Khan's connection rate beyond Kotelnik's defence wasn't the best you'll ever see but Kotelnik has a very underrated defence (people take the **** but Universum trained fighters have fantastic defences) and he's never tasted the canvass as well. That said, the style and nature of the win a very good platform for Khan to build on. He's learning the art of 'hit and not get hit' well and also learned that staying on the outside takes advantage of his best attribute- his speed. Roach is building something worth taking note of here.

Excellent my arse..... Kotelnik was a farce of a champion. Khan should have put him away for it to be classed as "an excellent performance" Boring fight Roach was constantly telling him to cover up you could tell he was worried about his glass chin. Kotelnik had now power behind any of his shots so Im affraid Kahn remains un tested.

Oisin ***an club fighter (No test here)

Barerra washed up fighter who was so badly cut by a clash of heads that he had no chance. (No test here)

Kotelnik worst champion I've ever seen. (No test again)

I know he is only 22 and has Roaches backing but the last time I checked you can't train a chin......

    Q the hatters.

Khan before the fight said that Kotelnik was the worst World champion. Looks like he was right

That was a poor defence. Should have gone out on his shield. Still same old ineffective 1-2 even during the championship rounds

Lets see what Khan does nex. He could fight former world champion.. Gavin Rees :)

Watched it on a live stream so didnt get the best picture quality. I thought Khan did relatively well, especially given that he is not used to boxing on the back foot. Plenty of shots seemed to be hitting gloves, but he certainly did enough to win the majority of the rounds. I suppose Kotlenik is not the type of fighter that its easy to look spectacular against, and the aim of the game on saturday night was to walk away with the title, but i was expecting a wee bit more from Khan. Thought he was a bit conservative in his approach against a guy who aint really noted for being a puncher.
