Hello fellow boxing fans. I started following boxing almost eight years ago and now follow fighters in almost all the divisions. I am also new to ESB. Now, in regards to Amir Khan, I get the feeling that this kid is getting opportunities that others more deserving than him are not getting simply because so much has been made to believe of him. I've seen some of his fights in Youtube and cannot deny he has skills but why is the man who knocked him out in the first round not even mentioned on any newsboard? Instead, I constantly see news about Amir Khans plans to fight some of the great names in boxing. Now he has even gotten the chance to fight the Mexican legend Marcon Antonio Barrera ahead of other fighters that are more deserving and proven than him such as Julio Diaz, Joan Guzman, Nate Campbell, Juan Diaz, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Michael Katsidis.

Marco Antonio Barrera is arguably not deserving of a title shot or being rated as a real contender at 135. If you aren't up to date with MAB's career, look him up on Wikipedia or some search website like Google.

In regards to Amir Khan, he is an exceptionally talented fighter with a great offensive arsenal. However, he is plagued like many fighters have been, as having a really bad chin. In other words, his punch resistance is non existent so any great offensive work he does can quickly be undone by one punch by a fighter like..Breidas Prescott.

I am aware of MAB's career and his present status in the 135lb division and you may be right. However, think about what Amir will gain if he beats him, especially if he does so convincingly. Yes, there will be many who will say MAB was a shot fighter but there will be those who believe that Amir has been propelled to the next level. I mean, look at what fighting ODLH did to Pacquiao. He is now the star of boxing. Beating a fighter with a name such as MAB will do likewise for Amir. This then, brings up my case. There are other fighters who deserved that shot more than Amir.

Maybe so, but they dont bring with them the same money. Marco isnt a fool, it's a risk, but it's hardly cut and dried he will lose, and he will be getting paid well for it.

    There is no comparison there.

Manny Pacquiao has already been proven on the world stage by beating great fighters like Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Marco Antonio Barrera. I agree that his fight with Oscar has been blown out of proportion, but mainly by Pac-tards. It was a good win over a shot fighter, and not a lot more.

Khan may get some hype if he does beat the great Barrera, however that will only work against him. If Warren or his handlers throw Khan in with the legitimate threats at 135, Diaz, Campbell, and Marquez, then Amir Khan will be blown away. He is not in that class, and I honestly doubt he will ever win a world title, period. In this brutal game, you must be able to take a shot. You must.

People say Thomas Hearns had a glass jaw, and this is not true. Tommy was stopped by some of the best fighters, and hardest hitters, in the world. Amir has been blown away by a no name, and who knows, Prescott may gone on to solidify himself as a great fighter, but I have my doubts.

    Time will tell.
