Amir Khan, will he fight or vacate? (I say they will fight 12/11)

Fight, he's a fighter.

 

I don't believe this will go to purse bids. GBP will want it settled before 9/21

Either Khan is going to give up some of his money with GBP explaining that nobody will pay it, or HBO will up their offer. Failing that it's purse bids

 

I'd hate if Khan ducked the fight

 

I honestly cannot see him vacating now. It would be a PR disaster and look terrible. He has to take the fight.

Anyone who thinks Khan is trying to avoid this fight because he's scared is thinking in error.
Khan firmly believes he will beat Maidana, he just doesn't want to pay him his 45%. It's greed not fear causing these problems

Now Con is backed into a corner! Will he man up and fight? Dragged kicking and screaming into the ring? Will he pay Maidana to go away again? Will he vacate? These are desperate times for Team Con!

 

He will take the fight. He's got no option.

 

Khan should have made a deal with Maidana voluntarilly, now both will lose money as GBP has all the cards on hand and will surelly put up a low offer on purse bid.

 

khan vacating his belt would make him look like an absolute *****. he has worked so hard to repair his reputation since prescott.

he clearly wants the fight, anyone seeing his interviews knows that. the issue is, for me, one of the following.

1) maidana wants more money (than a purse bid would give)
2) khan wants more money (than a purse bid would give)
3) golden boy dont wanna risk khan
4) golden boy have already lined up fights for the two fighters vs other people on one card

now i dont want some "know it all" trying to back up khan or back up maidana. these are just my opinions.

either way i wont let money be an excuse, the fight is going to purse bids so if either fighter decides the money aint enough, then it is a ***** move in my book.

 

He will fight.

 

A winning low purse bid would be perfect for Khan and GBP.

Maidana gets 45% of the purse bid.
Khan gets 55% of the purse bid which GBP tops up to his contractually guaranteed £1 million.

GBP pays less than they probably offered in the first place.

That's why I don't really think Maidana wants it to actually go to purse bids. He's using it as a negotiating tactic like he did in January. Remember this fight was called for purse bids once before then Maidana dropped it when he got the deal he wanted from GBP.

 

the only problem with that is someone like frank warren could come along and outbid GBP getting the fight in the UK and on SBO

 

Of course he's going to fight.

It's just that Maidana is being an awkward *****. 1 million dollars, seriously? Drop the silly games Marcos, and take what's reasonable.

 

freddie roach said in a uk newspaper, after khan had beaten kotelnik, that if khan had to fight maidana they would vacate the title. question is, has khan's wins against salita and malignaggi, done enough to change freddie roach's mind about this fight?
