Amir Khan's fight with Paulie Malignaggi in doubt as he still waits for a visa

    Amir Khan was still stranded in Vancouver last night hoping the attempted bombing by a terrorist in Times Square will not prevent him being granted a visa for his American debut fight against Paulie Malignaggi in New York a week tomorrow.

    With only eight days to go, the US Department of Homeland Security are saying only that his application is in process.

    Khan, who has been training in Los Angeles under the tourist visa waiver programme, needs a work permit for defending his world light welterweight title against Malignaggi.

    Khan expected to be in Vancouver no more than 48 hours but is now into his 11th day in Canada.

    He said: ‘What happened in Times Square was wrong. Pakistanis are not all bad. People should be looking up to guys like me. At my fights you see all colours, cultures and religions cheering for me.’

    Golden Boy, Khan’s American promoters, expect the visa to be issued in time for him to go to New York on Monday.

    Quite worrying...although I can see them getting it sorted couple days before the bout. Anyone else think this could really effect Khan? I mean it's his debut in America, if he wasn't nervous enough!

    Malignaggi is the same gaylord that got his ass kicked by fat Ricky Hatton.

    Just cuz he decisioned fat Juan Diaz doesn't mean anything.

    Amir Khan overrated but he could beat the STDs out of Malignaggi without any training camp at all.

    some of you on here talk like malignaggi is crap, he's not crap, he's just not good enough to beat the elite. could be a good test for khan.

    You contradict yourself so much in this one sentence.

    Khan hasn't been in with anyone close to Malignaggi's stye, or level...so what makes you so confident he can beat him? Because Hatton did?

    Yes, we should all look up to Khan. I hope he can make the trip cause I want to see get wrecked by Malignaggi. I think his corn rows could knock him out.

    I hope they send him to one of those "terrorist prisons" but his crime is being a glass jawed fraud that will even get ko'd by gaylord paulie.
