I've seen him box for GB once before and he was fantastic. However, there's a kid from Liverpool called Jazza who's thought and beat Haroon Khan three times I think it is but rumour is the GB team can't take both of them at the same weight, hence Khan maybe not going the Olympics (unless between now and 2012 he changes weight). And for the record I watched Jazza last week and his talent is extraodinary
If he cannot make the team then he should do whatever he wants to do! I think he will get the support of Muslims in the UK anyway. The union jack does offend many countries not the ones that are trying to **** us over (if they exist), but think about ALL the countries we ****ed over!!!! This is very different to Lewis and Canada, only because the UK will make a big fuss about it!
Oh for ****s sakes can you honestly not see why it would be an issue?Dont argue for the sakes of it!!It would be a ****in problem and he shouldnt do it! This isnt footy this is boxing! And who the **** is offended by the Union Jack other than countrys that are trying to **** us over.Which just about proves my point!!!!Jesus, some people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For ****s sake you pedantic *******, something like 90%+ of British boxing fans must be white. I never thought saying that someone who shirks Britain to fight for another country will attract **** all positive interest from British fans is that contraversial. If he's banking on minority fans to base his career on then expect him to make an absolute pittance.
Agreed! Our country is most definitely ****ed!! The issue regarding Young Khan could be that some fans may wonder why, as a Briton he would want to represent a foreign nation at the Olympics? If it is simply to ensure Olympic qualification (And I really do not know if he is certain to be one of our very best amateurs at that any weight come 2012, or Pakistan's for that matter) then I say good luck to him. But, were he certain to be Britan's representative and he, having lived and trained here almost all (If not all) his life, decided to represent a foreign nation, then I guess you could consider the question "Why?" Would it effect his career? If he was a journeyman level fighter, maybe. If he proved to be better than his brother then the answer would probably be No. Let's give the lad a break! The Olympics are two years away, he may not prove to be good enough for either squad and "The word round the camp-fire" may prove to be just talk.
If England are playing Pakistan in cricket at the Oval, who do the British ,of Pakistani descent, support??
:good Good post!! I keep my eyes peeled and ears cocked for young Jazza, he sounds like a name to remember!
He isnt shirking Britain it looks like he may be forced to look elsewhere! I support good sports men regardless of what country they play for, the fact remains only white UKers (some not all) will have a problem with him fighting for Pakistan. If the population was 50:50 split of whites and non whites then 50% of the population would not be bothered. So my pendantic point as you called it stands. :good PS Intelligent Adults learn to have debates without insulting each other! You obviously need practise!
