http://link.brightcove.com/services/...tid=1778583724 :yep He was saying that his opponent was a big step... lol
The opponent was a bigger step than they should have gambled on.. Unknown quantity.. I could have matched him with a far higher ranked man, but with almost half the risk... Very UN-Smart move to fight him.. Amirs Father is not a Boxing man, he should stay wayyyyy back in the cupboard and let those who know the game have thier hands on his sons career.. Remember what happened to the man in my avatar.. His father sold shares in his career, and sold him short leaving TNT Tucker not just broke , but owing some, before he even got started..
This is why there is no honour in boxing. Keep Amir away from an opponent who has chance of beating him? Pathetic. Prescott is not even a step up and is basically at the same level as Amir with similar physical attributes and record. The point is that at some point Amir would have had to face a big hitter so whats the point of matching him up with inferior opponents?
Well, since on paper they actually had very similar records thats like admitting what everyone knows - Khans been overprotected up till now!
When you hold all the cards like Amir did, ou have all of the options, styles make fights, and if you don't know about someones style, you dont risk everything in fighting someone , when you actually have the ability to beat far better men than Prescott was on paper, with less risks taken, not avoid the better fighters, just take on ones you know at least something about.. so you can at least prepare for something you have knowledge of.. Khan had lots of options and was really in the driving seat as far as his career was going , and he decide to let people drive his career down a dark road last night and do it blindfolded.. Did not need the risk.. I think you are very naive to the game and it machinations my friend..
I am not Naive I am a paying customer and i dont want to be taken for a fool by F.Warren with his inferior opponents so that he can pad a record. I respect fighters like Haye who take risks and only want to fight the best. The fact that Khan did not no much about prescott is a failing of doing research but I think he was the right fighter and only Romanov or Peterson were other credible opponents that would have been acceptible to me.
an Amercan debut was an option i looked at, against an Edner Cherry (who was considered) and is now in the title picture... You see , dont take risks .. when u dont have to.. You are talking from a paying customers perspective, i am talking from a smart management perspective.. Most paying customers bay for blood and boo at main events at fighters who are at least willing to lace gloves on to bring the sport to the viewer.. Khans people took the bad fight, thats exactly what i am saying.. they took a very un necessary risk..
