It's the 'promoters' and managers that are killing the game. The fighters are not really to blame. If you saw some of these contracts you'd be absolutely stunned. Some fighters are waking up now though and starting to realise their worth.
Bradley is absolutely screwed, either way you look at it. 1. If he fights Khan on July 23rd, he get's tied in with Shaw's clause that he's undoutedly scuffled in (which could be the reason Bradley's not going ahead). 2. If he loses against Khan, he won't have any contract in place (such as a multi-fight deal with guaranteed options) with any major promoter such as Top Rank or GBP, like Khan has - This mean's no guaranteed 1M+ payday, limited options and a lot of negatives) 3. If he doesn't fight Khan, he has no date on HBO as the deadline he was given to find someone was for June 30th. The time he was given is expired, so the only possible date he has, is fighting Khan on July 23rd, otherwise he's out of it till late September, at the least (unless he goes back to Showtime). Sad times for Bradley fans. (I'm happy though, I rather see Amir not lose, just yet )
The governing bodies are to blame as well. In turn, all the promoters should tell 'em to **** off, so that's partly them as well.
Cayo? Peterson? Coleman? Is Guzman still suspended? Cueneca (sp)? None really stand out as a top PPV-worthy fighter, especially against an English bloke so they'd need a top undercard (or they could just not make the fight with them I guess) They're of course the B-C level plans if someone like Judah ETC doesn't come off
I couldn't give a **** if Bradley was paid in pie and mash. I'm a fan of Tim Bradley the fighter, not the man.
Cayo - Out with injury Peterson - Good shout Coleman - Who? Guzman - Suspended Cueneca - Who? Amir won't give a fudge if the opponent is PPV or not, or will he care his fight is PPV or not in the UK. He's guaranteed a 1.5M+ Payday, as he's fighting in the U.S, instead of the UK, so if we don't get something to support the PPV in the UK, it'll be on SS1, assuming bridges aren't burnt.
Either July 23rd, or end up fighting only twice this year. I await IRONSENSE's response to this news.
Peterson isn't a great shout IMO. Coleman is Tim Coleman who was recently offered the chance to step in for Cayo to fight Peterson, Cueneca is that 40(1)-0 Argie I think.
There's **** all out there aside from Judah, Morales and Guerrero really. The people listed would be interesting (well, sort of) but as I said not really PPV worthy. Could always stick him on regular HBO against one of them and bring forward Morales/Maidana II for a double header. Cueneca KO 1 Khan :deal Could always fight Maidana again... :hey
