Wouldnt bother me if he had another fight first, as long as Tim - Amir happens in the next year or so. If he picked up the IBF it would be cool to have the whole division (all the belts) unified for the first time in recent memeory.

With Bradley becoming the new Winky/Marquez in terms of business, Khan should go after Judah to unify.

just to play devils advocate $1.3million is pretty low for a fight like this when you consider other fighters purses for far less significant fights.

Pretty sure Andre Berto had been paid more than that 5-6 times.

Berto was horribly overpaid though. Not that that means Bradley should accept the offer or anything. Just shows that HBO have really backed themselves into a corner with certain things

1.3mill is actaully a pretty reasonable offer. It's not as big a fight as you make out, Rob. In terms of revenue.

I think $1.3m is a reasonable offer for this fight..... for what's basically a trade fight.

Neither of them are stars as such, it's not the sort of fight where both should be on a minimum of $2-3m each.

However, Rob's point that Berto has had several $1m+ paydays for fighting average opponents is very valid. It's just a mistake by whoever is in charge at HBO though.....

As an example, Hearns and Duran were on $1.5m apiece at the time. Obviously there's inflation to consider but boxing purses have generally been pretty flat since then with the odd exception.

I'm not sure how significant that fight was at the time..... because Duran hadn't long been dominated by Benitez and also defeated by Laing before partly redeeming himself against an off colour Hagler.

Would be interesting to see where the oddsmakers had that fight going in. Obviously with hindsight you'd want at least 25/1 to even consider putting your worst enemy's last fiver on Duran :yep

If the sticking point is that HBO guaranteed Bradley and Alexander a million dollar fight anyway, then why don't HBO just say to Bradley, look win or lose this fight and we'll give you another good pay day against Maidana or Judah or somebody.

Good point, but..... then where do you stop?

By giving him the $1m guarantee they've given him both an out and a sense of entitlement now.

I think it's pretty clear that he wants away from Gary Shaw pretty badly, to the point where he's prepared to make himself look like a bit of a dick in order to do so..... which goes against most of what we've seen from him thus far.

Let him cash his chip in on somebody else, then get Khan to the negotiating table and see where that gets him. I've got the feeling this may bite him on the arse at some stage.

What annoys me about this situation is how in all these months, even though I can understand the difficult situation he finds himself in, Bradley has known that everyone was intending to put him with Khan on Jul 31st, he could of at least raised these concerns previously

You need to let your obsession with Khan fighting Prescott go mate.

    :thumbsup

Got it in one. He hit the jackpot against Amir but has since been shown up twice.

He's not a big puncher, he can't box for toffee either. It would be a hollow victory for Khan in my opinion. Not too dissimilar to Hopkins vs Jones.

    -------------------------------------

I'm not sure why people want Khan to fight Zab, to me it's just got ''Fail'' written all over it. Khan should win and win big, but even if he does people will just say ''Well, that's just Zab.....'' or ''He's ****ed, Cotto ruined him''.

And if Khan does take a biggie on his chin he'll go over and be a laughing stock.

If you're in his position and fancy a risky fight, take it against someone that's either great or at their best.... that way you won't be slaughtered so much if you come up short, and will get credit if you win.

As a Khan neutral I think the logical fight for him is Bradley, but if that can't be made right now I think a Maidana rematch is the best option.

Marquez would ruin him, Guerrero isn't particularly well known over here, Peterson isn't great in all honesty.

Unless of course he wants to move up to 147 immediately, in which case a showdown with Ortiz should be fairly easy to make.
