Still using boxrec as your primary tool, I see.

What you fail to consider is Mijares's lack of amateur experience. It's common for Latin fighters to suffer losses early in their career when they are still learning and growing.

why the hate on pacquiao? the guy has nothing to do with this thread.

Donaire vs Mijares is a great matchup imo.

No i didn't realise that was a fact, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Seriously, good fighter, largely unproven. Watched the Arce fight again, Arce is a RUBBISH fighter, totally over rated, worse then Lacy p4p. Mijares will look good in that division because frankly there are no elite fighters there to challenge. He really needs to be convincing in his attempts to unify to makde a believer out of me.

Kind of helps that Mijares was 16 years old with no amatuer background.

Who knows if the decision was even legit, in these lower weight classes, you'd be surprised what happens.

Mijares's three losses came early in his career when he hadn't hit his stride or become anything close to a top contender. They mean NOTHING.

You have better cases against him bringing up the first Kawashima fight and the draw against Maldonado. But he's also improved as a fighter and lost virtually no rounds over the past year or so.

He lost 1 to Arce, 2-3 to Navarro.

Hmm, still not hitting Kessler level domination's there against solid B's, maybe I should get nervous.:yep

If he was rubbish then why didn't he lose between 99 and 2007? He fought some decent fighters in that period also. Mijares roasts him 11 rounds to 1, that's what is highly impressive about that win.

Montiel is an elite fighter, Donaire is a B+. Everybody else is B.

Kawashima somehow managed to make close fights with just about everybody, except for 1 of the bouts against Tokuyama and the 2nd Mijares fight, which wasn't close at all, it was in fact nearly a domination which ended in a stoppage.

Let me also add that Kawashima KTFO Tokuyama in round 1 in one of their fights.

It's not like we're dealing with a garbage fighter here.

Anybody can say **** like that.

Donaire beat a never-was Vic Darchinyan and everyone is creaming themselves.

    :yep

    -------------------------------------------------------

    1) Mijares didn't just beat Arce, he completely thrashed him. A very brutal fight. Had Arce had anything less than a granite chin, he would have been put on the canvass.

    2) Forget Doug Tucker - Mijares beat Jose Navarro more convincingly than anybody else has.

    3) Mijares was the only person to stop Kawashima

    4) Mijares has as complete a skill-set as anybody currently boxing. Versatile defense, complete offensive arsenal (every punch in the book, body punches, body/head combinations, short punches from in close, snappy jab from long range and off of the backfoot), superb footwork, and gives a multiplicity of angles.

He's a damn good fighter and he would beat Nonito Donaire and Fernando Montiel. Bottom line.

Impressive win in terms of dominance, but still watch the footage, very crude fighter, very over rated. Lacy hadn't lost any fights prior to Calzaghe, does it mean he was really an elite opponent... No! Montiel is definitely not elite. World Class, A level, not elite. Not in the top echolons of the sport. Donaire is A level also IMO, although i have not seen a great deal of him, and would like to before making a proper decision.
