That's right, that's what Pit is also kind of saying a few posts back.

That's what a lot of hypermodern analysts can't seem to recognise.

The Margarito chin is A++++++ and and everyone else would probably be a B or less if his chin is the gold standard. I do not care how you score his overall skill because the most important part is getting the win.

People are so hanged up with the so called sweet science (when most who practice itcan not actually hurt a fly with their punch like Amsty's Gods Guzzy and Mijares).

He still is. Wiliams exposed him as well.

A rematch would be interesting though.

Are you honestly suggesting, based on skills, that Margarito A+ class?
Margarito is a good fighter who relies on his stamina, iron chin and constant pressure/activity. There's nothing A class or unpredictable there, if you can handle the pressure you can handle him, just ask Paul Williams(who isn't class A either). He beat Cotto based on pressure, he simply broke Cotto down and everyone knew that would be his plan because that's the plan he always uses.

Cotto was still considered the best in the division, you can't take that away from Margarito.

Cotto may have more skill, but that doesn't make him the better fighter. Cotto was at the top of his game and still got battered... For being so "unskilled" Margo sure beats the hell out of a lot of guys and gets avoided by almost every big name fighter in the sport... Funny how that happens. :smooch

Yep, which is something I've said for the past 2 years. Much like Gatti-Ward, great fights - but neither one came out "A" level. Just 2 B level guys with limited talent and big heart, throwing punches.

cotto is a 'A' level boxer and was the legit best in the divison, margarito just had them lethal uppercuts and hooks which took everything out of cotto. Margarito was world class that night and hes a good boxer but a brilliant fighter.

PW v margarito II i would like to see, but
Cotto v 'Margarito II i would rather see.

Margarito is not an A fighter by any means, not an elite P4P'er and still is a B+ fighter, which is by no means an insult. Maybe 20-25 fighters in the sport at any given time are A fighters, maybee 5-7 A+ fighters.

What is the big deal? Do you guys not comprehend that B level means 'Good to Very good'.... C level is 'Average to Decent' and A level means 'The highest class'.

Has nothing to do with style or the way they fight also, Marg's result versus Cotto doesn't totally erase other bad showings and is likely going to be his peak career performance, in which half of the fight, he was badly outclassed, incredible display of heart, will and fortitude, which demands a high respect, but take it for it is.

The peopel calling Margarito a B+ level are absolutely nuts. In actual fact, he's the most accomplished, dangerous, and best fighter in the whole of boxing. Key word being "fighter". Nobody in the world at welterweight could outfight Margarito.

In terms of technique and accuracy, Margarito is a B level fighter.

In terms of chin, heart, determination, pressure, power, and stamina, Margarito is a A+ fighter.

Not at all, I've dished out far more than I've recieved, you're bound to lose some here and there and get it in return. Difference being, I can defend my stances well, many people can't.

Even in debating Cotto-Margarito, not one single Margarito fan refuted anything that I laid out, they simply went with a gut feeling that Marg would take everything and Cotto would wear out, but couldn't go deep in an analysis, several backed down out of avatar bets also because they weren't totally sure, but now act like they knew 100% and people picking Cotto knew nothing, laughable. The gameplan I figured Cotto would use to best effectiveness was not used, as soon as the 4th and 5th round hit, even though he was tattooing Marg with awesome combinations, I knew he was going to get KOed, because he wasn't smothering him when he needed to, wasn't tying him up and wasn't going to the body nearly enough. Plus, I underrated Marg's chin, due to seeing Williams and Clottey both stun him.

This reaction is mostly coming from people who don't like my bold posting and prediction style and people who are chronically off base in predicting fights, so finally have ammunition against me after all of the abuse I've dished out because this year I got several big fights wrong, as if everyone else didn't, it's been a difficult year for predicting fights.

Truthfully, I'm laughing that I got under so many fools skin with boxing discussion.:rofl

Well when you compete and win with the very best in the division that kinda makes you one of the best.

Didn't we do the same for DLH who lost nearly every big fight he was in?

It really doesn't matter much how people classify fighters in A(elite)-B-C-D systems and I do believe Tony is pretty Godamn far from being a great technical expert... But that is very different from STILL defending a position that there was no argument in Tony's favour before the fight. That **** was ridiculous then and is almost unbelievably blind-minded now. I tell you what, Tony may very possibly lose by kayo in his next fight and even against the same opponent. Nobody can say this is the way it is, most of all in this game.
