Amsterdam is a good poster with a funny posting style but he is not very good at rating fighters. From thinking Vernon Forrest was a top15 p4p to thinking Margarito was not even close to top25... He's still fun to have around on this forum.
It's not just the prediction, it's how he says Margarito is SOO bad, will get easily outboxed by the first good fighter he faces. Laughs at anyone who think Margarito has a chance. After **** like that, let him eat some crow, or at least some of what he dishes. No need to play "Leave my friend alone".... --------------------- Congrats to Margarito!!! Well deserved win!
But Bute is so inactive and has serious defensive lapses. Andrade is similiar to Margarito, I would think you'd like Andrade over Bute, who's workrate in his recent fights has been pathetic, the guy also goes to the ropes when pressured and drops his hands. I obviously have little say this coming week after this prediction, but let's look at reality here, Andrade's a stylistic nightmare for Bute and normally I favour the boxer types.
It is funny how we take polar opposites here. The thing is I truly do not think Kessler hit Andrade with his best shot. I think Kessler lacks in areas where other guys like Joe C do not, that being heart and desire. Technically he is perfect but he is missing that extra bit. Bute doesn't seem to be missing it. And he can be sloppy but I am a firm believer that when Andrade decides to stand toe to toe with Bute he will eat some hard short lefts under his guard that will make him quit. Maybe not the first couple but Bute will hit Andrade with his entire body behind it.
That's where I think you're wrong, Bute really has mediocre power, less than Kessler. Even if Bute had better power and good power at that, he doesn't committ himself hardly at all and throws at such a low workrate(when he's capable of throwing a load of shots)... he brutally attacked Berrio because he had to, Berrio had arguably won 4-5 rounds off of him and his corner was worried even though the cards were wide for Bute, I remember this from watching it live. But he stunned Bika and didn't follow him, took 10 rounds on an undersized, shot Joppy and even lost 1-2 to him and showed the same defensive lapses. Also, Kessler did hit Andrade with everything he had, a few times pressing forward and landing combinations at maximum force, and he circles well and doesn't fall to the ropes or have any serious defensive lapses like Bute. That probably says Kessler isn't a big puncher, but most people know that as he's heavy handed and works well in precise accumulation, but it also doesn't say he didn't committ and isn't a stronger hitter than Bute, who's shown nothing to the contrary. I don't know man, I just don't see Bute doing much at the top level, he's not just shown bad lapses against limited opposition once or twice, it's been the norm for him to do so and if there have been any improvements, I'd like them to be pointed out to me because I saw the same guy vs. Joppy as I did vs. Bika and Berrio, Andrade a huge step up from all 3.
Congratulations Margarito fans! I'm bitterly dissapointed but you guys deserve props. I picked Cotto to win a clear decision by boxing, much like he did in the first six rounds (except staying off the ropes and clinching more). I was upset with the strategy Cotto used, had he clinched more and not solely counterpunched he could have won. That's taking nothing away from Tony. Margarito is one tough guy, he ate everything Cotto threw at him and came back for more, from what I've seen it's almost impossible to discourage the man. I never disrespected Marg before this fight, I always rated him as good fighter that had flaws (B+ level using my own scale), unfortunately Cotto couldn't exploit those flaws for 12 rounds. I'll admit to being wrong for once, I deserve to eat some crow. Congratulations.:good Also I don't think you should be singleing out Amsterdam, yes he can be arrogant at times but he generally is a good poster. Plenty of other people though Cotto was going to destroy Marg.
Cotto would need two things to win that fight: 1. Analyze the Kessler vs. Andrade fight carefully over and over. 2. Be able to carry out that strategy.
