Would he have been able to compete in the HW division in the last 10 years or so? You can argue he is over rated, or underrated because he is considered so overrated or what have you. But could he be a competitive contender? Would he be able to get himself any belts? He just seems so prone to the physical disadvantages against the SHW of the modern era.
Mike Tyson almost always fought bigger fighters than himself often much bigger. He never didn't have a reach and height disadvantage to overcome but he was a genetic freak of nature and supremely talented, I see no reason why he couldn't have applied that in the modern era. As much as Tyson Fury is bandied about as being an outlier due to his size and skill are there any boxers who currently exist as 5'10", 220 lbs bundles of fast twitch muscle routinely KO'ing men 6" taller than themselves?
He would definitely be a champion. Many of the big guys today are very hittable and would have a lot of trouble keeping up with Tyson’s bursts. The size could give Tyson some trouble but not enough to be costing him fights
He actually had one of the best chin s of any heavyweight. To beat him, in his prime, you had to really keep hitting away. He took some massive shots and kept on.
