I mentioned in another thread that Lacy was the IBF champion for a couple years so it probably wouldn't be too difficult for him to secure another title shot. He could win a few fights and become Bute's mandatory. Do u think this would be a good idea for Lacy or a dead-end with Bute being a bad career-move?
at this point Manfredo brings more money to Lacy than Bute...Bute is a step back for Lacy, **** the belt...
He would have to beat Vitali Tsypko to become the mandatory and finally settle the score between them.
I think that if Lacy will continue at SMW, he will go for Lucian. I think that it would be a good move for him. He will only do it if he feels up to it, thought. He would have to be in good shape, physically and mentally to beat Lucian at the end of 2008 or in 2009. I expect the earliest he could do it is if he became Bute's mandatory - for autumn 2008.
What score? Are they rivals to a greater extent than any other two in the division? Or do you mean - the IBF title?
Your right mate **** the belts lets just have nobodies fight nobodies as long as it's "fo tha money" **** outa here with that ignorant **** mate. Now go **** yourself. Cheers:good
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was not refering to Bute here. I meant to say that Lacy's win over Tsypko in their second fight wasn't that convincing, that's why a third fight wouldn't be too bad. :thumbsup
Lacy is not ranked high enough outside the IBF (WBC, WBA & WBO)to take part in any kind of title eliminator or fight for a vacant title. So if I was him. The IBF is the direction I'd go if I wanted to get a title shot soon. But it seems Lacy is more concern with money then recognition or titles. He's been talking about fighting Tarver next. Only reason for that would be money. Just like the Manfredo fight. I think that If Lacy would call out Bute after his next fight. He would probably get a title shot as early as may-june. Bute and his team have been wanting to fight Lacy for a while and now that Bute has a title. They might be able to make this fight happen.
I didn't know that Bute wanted to fight Lacy. Even more of a reason to try and make this fight happen assuming that Lacy wins his next fight. Being a former IBF champion, Lacy's gonna stay afloat in their rankings so why not go for it? One would have to imagine that he could get a nice payday for fighting Bute in Montreal. Lacy's in need of a career-restoring win and Bute's looking to legitimize himself as a champion so this fight makes sense.
I'd be very interested in Bute/Lacy. One boxer, one puncher. Lucian would try and keep it tidy but is very hitable. However, Lacy is slow and one paced. I can see Bute outboxing Lacy for the first half of the fight but wouldn't come anywhere near stopping him - this will go to points. Berrio found Bute's chin far too often for my liking so you'd have to assume Lacy will be able to over the course of 12 rounds. The key to the fight is how well Bute takes these shots. I don't see any reason to believe that Bute has anything other than a good chin so I'd go for Bute 117-111 type of score. Lacy's only hope would be a late KO.
I'm sorry to say this (Well, not really) but I don't think Lacy has any kind of chance against Bute. This is probably why Larouche wants to make this fight happen. They probably also want to compare Calzaghe with Bute again like they did with Bika.
I don't see him beating Bute to be honest. But yea...that's probably his best option to see where he is at.
