As a thought experiment, would it be an idea to reward knockdowns even more and score a ONE knockdown round 10-7 instead of 10-8? Thoughts? Personally I think 2 measles points isn't enough if the fight goes the distance and a knockdown is a significant thing in a fight.
I think 10-8 is sufficient. That said, in nothing rounds, scoring a 10-10 should occur if no one has visibility won that round. If that doesn’t happen then totally diminishes the 10-8 for a KD as you may have scored round before for the other guy who’s work you preferred in a nothing round
I'm not a fan of a 10-10 round. A fighter has to know if he doesn't do enough he will lose the round imo. 10-8 is fine for a KD too 10-7 is far too harsh for 1 KD.
the more binary and inflexible the scoring system, the better don’t give these crooks any more leeway to score rounds to the home fighter
Corruption will always prevail regardless of scoring criteria as seen with the recent examples of Tommy Fury, Tyson Fury and Joe Cordina where it defies belief that all three underdogs lost their fights while in the eye of many boxing fans, three old farts gave it to the promoters fighters. Even worse the opponent for Cordina had his scores for the first 5 rounds changed post fight by 2 judges. Terence Spud O'Connor types will never be beaten by any scoring criteria.
It's not mandatory 10-8 for a knockdown first of all. But it's given quite often ye. But 10-7 too much Imo.
