To do away with these bad decisions that seem to be getting more and more common, what about in title fights having 5 judges, with the 2 judges with the widest deviation on the scorecards being discounted and the other 3 cards deciding the outcome. Just an idea? Im rather bored studying. Would surely give a fairer outcome???

Five judges would be a good idea, because you never see a bad decision in amateur boxing...

I do not see what the fuss is about, boxing has always had bad decisions and corrupt officials, it is the beauty of a fight being judged.

If we want, and I suspect the technology is there, or could be developed, we could go down the path of Fencing. Have sensors all over the body and gloves of each fighter, and a computer could work out the amount and force of each blow, and come to a decision on who would win.

Or being a bit less flippant, why not just tweak 10 point must. And make it clearer for all.

If a judge thinks one fighter edges a round he scores it 10/9

If a judge thinks one fighter has won the round convincingly he scores it 10/8

If a judge thinks one fighter has dominated a round he scores it 10/7

If a fighter scores a knockdown, the judge gives two bonus points on top of what he has already scored for the round.

That way a fighter is rewarded for taking the fight to his opponent, rather than trying to steal/edge rounds...

    Wouldn't work.

Let's say Fighter A beats fighter B by clear decision.

1 judge has it 116-112 for fighter A (a very fair score). Another judge has an identical score, two more judges both have it even and the final judge has it 115-114 for fighter B. Using your method the first and the last judge get eliminated so it's a majority draw which is very harsh on fighter A since he won more rounds and clearly won two of the cards but only gets a draw. Whereas B only won one of the 5 scorecards but also gets a draw.

That's just one example. The widest cards aren't always the worst ones. Plus it would never happen here since the board are reluctant to have 3 judges, which by the way should be compulsory in every single fight they sanction.
