Post-fight interviews in English of non-native English speaking fighters never do them justice. You are often left with the impression that they aren't that sharp. When, in fact, you realize when you read a translated interview like this that they are very sharp.

Let's not forget Jackson said he was a racist and even switched corners on him. He doesn't owe them anything. They were properly paid and maybe he is just being honest.

it was a good interview. Yet out of all of it, the thing I noticed was his comment that Alex was not his friend but a good buddy. Meaning he sees friendship as something deeper than what Alex thought was a friend.

Maybe "buddy" wasn't the best word to use here. I guess "acquaintance" (or "gym acquaintance") is better.

And this as well. Friendship definitely means a lot to people from the post soviet world. They don't use that word lightly usually.
And Gvozdyk a couple of times in the past said almost absolutely the same (that they're rather not friends, but good acquaintances with Kovalev). So, he won't cry after having read this part of the interview.

Well I agree with them, friendship is something special. I know I wouldn't hit a friend. In this country they take friendship lighter than somewhere else. One of the best friends I ever had was older than me by 11 years and from Taiwan, he has since passed away. But he taught me a lesson once in 1981. He was a mechanic and he was bleeding the breaks on a car and I was in the car pushing on the peddle when he said to and then he would let the air out of the line, something like that. It was a hot day we were both in a bad mood. This was a stick shift car,, and I told him teach me how to shift this..I think I was trying to get on his nerves by insisting when he was busy. He didn't want to, he had to get the work done, but I pushed it. I was 16,, so he said, put the clutch in then shift and release. I released it just all of a sudden and the car jumped probably 5-10 feet over his tool box and everything. He was so mad, and being young I got in his face like I wanted to fight him. He was so upset, he turned away and told me " go home. You are not my friend anymore" I had to apologize and all this and we shook hands saying we are friends all this stuff, but to him you don't get in your friends face ever. Sorry I rambled on that one. He was probably the best friends I ever had. No nonsense and honest. So it is good to see when people see friendship as important. Someone who will do anything for you. Within reason. Sorry I went off topic. I wont happen again anytime soon.
