This is a good one, what I would call competitive, but I don’t think it was close. The judge who gave it to Carlos, yeeesh. It wasn’t as comprehensive a statement as Duran’s domination in Palomino’s next fight, but it augers the limit of an excellent fighter going up against a great fighter. He didn’t embarrass himself, but he was not going to win. Wilfred took complete control by the early to mid rounds. Benitez had some snap in his punches too, this gets overlooked due to his amazing ability to evade shots.
I’d have to rewatch this fully to refresh but great point re over sighted snap in Wilfred’s punches - including some very nice work to the body, which we did see in the Duran fight, body work that would’ve sapped Roberto’s strength somewhat.
