While the fight isn't making wave in the US or the rest of the world, here in Quebec it's shaping up to be the biggest boxing event in a long time. Bigger than any Pascal fight (Dawson include) and bigger than any Bute fight. Iv'e seen posters on Bus stops, fight trailers on TV and the fight will be broadcast in movie theathers in Montreal. The media are all over the fight and the support is incredible.

But in the US the fight has zero attention. Even though most people think Hopkins will school Pascal. It's quite the contrast.

This is one of the fights I've been looking forward to the most. I like Pascal, but I really want B-Hop give us another Pavlik, Trinidad or Tarver performance. What an incredible achievement that would be.

I don't think most people believe Hopkins will school Pascal... If you see the polls here on ESB, Pascal is the favorite!
And although there are some here who say that he will school Pascal, in Kirk's thread it's hard to find someone who will take a bet on Hopkins.

That is why I believe there isn't much attention for the bout in the US, or anywhere outside the Canadian borders... Hopkins is going to lose!

I understand that. But couldn't you guys care for Pascal? Or is it that he's too... unamerican?

I do! But I'm not an American, so I can't speak for them...
But the fight probably will turn out to be a snoozefest/stinker due to B-Hop's "style", and with the probable winner already known, I can understand there's not much hype.

Steve Kim thinks Hopkins will trouble Hopkins and isn't sure. Do does Dan Rafael and Doug Fischer and so far no feature on the fight and it's Wednesday of fight week.

This fight I have been pretty excited for but you gotta admit its kind of a downer if you will compared to all the action we have gotten for the past month and a half.

I still can not pick a winner on this one. I wanna put some money down on it but i can see it being a dominant win either way. Wont know until round 1.

Either Hopkins is too old and Pascal beats on him or Hopkins brings back time and schools Pascal.

Hopkins never had the drawing power in the US he probably should have. Also, at this point, most Americans realize he should have been retired. He's 46.

Why would this be such a bonanza in Quebec? Hopkins isn't the force he used to be, not by a long shot. At this point he is merely a revered(or despised) name. A dangerous one, yes. I could see him spoiling Pascal and make this fight closer than it should be in respect to the current abilities of both, but that is a testament to Hopkins savvy moreso than to his to his current skills.

I have Pascal winning a slim decision.

This should be a clinic by Hopkins ..Pascal is very sloppy ..But if he jumps on Hopkins and stays on him he can win the decision ..But I got Hopkins by UD ..We all know how boxing gets little love here in the states unless its talked about on tmz these days !

I also bet the crowd is going to be electric come fight time !

Pascal will run circles around Bhop. Bhop will finally retire after this.

I don't think Hopkins will school Pascal, and Pascal IS the favorite, so most people must not think that will happen. I do think Hopkins will outbox Pascal for long stretches, but I still favor Pascal to win. Pascal is a great style matchup for Hopkins. Younger Hopkins would have eaten Pascal for breakfast. But these days, Hopkins is an eight round fighter. He just can't keep it up for 12 - not enough stamina anymore. I think Pascal will be able to win enough rounds to pull it out, especially fighting at home so he gets the benefit of close rounds.

But Hopkins should give him problems. He's going to have a lot of trouble connecting on Hopkins with those looping punches of his. But I think he takes it as long as he doesn't get demoralized early on, like Pavlik did.
