I have never ever ever seen Rigo fight on the inside. Not cause he can't but because I've literally never ever seen an opponent get close to him often enough for it to be a viable strategy. I've scene Loma fight on the inside plenty and he gets better and better. I say all that to say, this is yet another tool Rigo is taking away from Loma. If Loma can close the distance on him I can see Loma getting frustrated and sloppy
I just feel this fight makes a mockery of boxing. How are these two fighters allowed to be avoided like they are? They've got naturally weighted boxers scattering all around all weights hiding. Are these two too good for boxing where there has to be a two jump to make a fight? Its mindboggling really. Will Rigo stay at superfeather after the fight or jump down to feather and scatter them all again?
Lomo hasnt faced anybody as good as Lomo, nor has Rigo, Rigo has not faced anybody as good as Lomo at timing an advancing attack. Also measurements aside the step up in weight classes is guna make a difference too. They may stand side to side and look equally matched but Lomo is guna feel real strong to Rigo. If he can get in, score some points and get back out of Lomo,s range it could make for a very interesting fight but i suspect Lomo is guna keep catching him on the way in and for the 1st time i can ever remember Rigo is guna have to go to a plan B. Lomo has this. ( i have been known to be wrong, sometimes very wrong).
Rigo is not going on the inside. He will do what he does and wait for Loma to come in. That's what makes Rigo able to hang with bigger guys. He makes you fight his fight. However, Loma isn't any other chump. He has skill, and will do what he can to impose his style. This is a ridiculously awesome fight. It's a shame that there will be commercials between all the badassery.
Possible. I think Loma getting sloppy is a stretch. Frustrated, maybe but Loma is very well balanced and rarely ever over extends himself. The lateral movement and overall footwork of Rig is exceptional...he's also very measured with the jab and left so it could create issues for Loma closing distance to make it an inside fight. However, Loma has layers to his craft and can fight on the outside with great success as well. The speed differential will be key for Loma. Interesting match up
Rigo has the reach advantage. If you think for one second that Rigo doesn't know how to use that to his advantage you are sorely mistaken. He has the speed and power to challenge Loma. Not saying he wins, but again, this will not be a one side beat down administered by Loma. This is a tactical fight. Tit-4-Tat. Great fight!!!!!
Rigo will be trying to take away Loma's strengths which I agree, however I don't think Rigo has fought anyone who's as clever as Loma. Loma has the ability and experience to have plenty of back up plans, which rigo will again try and nullify etc.. it's gonna be a case of who can out-think the opponent and I wouldn't be surprised for first few rounds to be very slow whilst they figure eachother out
I'd like to see a Salido fight as well. Siri is the type of opponent that could have some success against Rigo if his chin holds up. Out of Mares, Santa Cruz, and Donaire, I always thought that Mares had the best chance at beating Rigo because of his come forward style. Of course that was before his chin problems reared their ugly head. It's not even funny how blatant the Rigo ducking was in those days. Loma seems to be getting the same treatment nowadays. True shame.
