    They're not.

    And no.

Let's just use an example from a top fighter of the golden era, purportedly "the strongest" due to the fact that they only ever fought top competition and all fought eachother. I'll choose Ken Norton, because why not? Let's see:

Ken Norton fought, inbetween Ali 2 and 3:

    12-22 Rico Brooks
    24-9 Jose Luis Garcia
    38-21 Ron Stander
Journeymen Boone Kirkman, Larry Middleton and Pedro Lovell

His only notable win in that time is a KO vs Jerry Quarry.

He never fought Frazier "because they were friends". Weird that they get less criticism for that one than Wladimir gets for not fighting his brother.

Dreadful fight. Every bit as awful as Fury V Charr. I don't mind Joshua having an easy fight, but there's easy and then there's 41 year olds with 7 losses and 2 draws.

I think its more annoying because we know they spurred the opportunity of Fury V Joshua for this slop.

They never fought because usually there wasn't enough money involved. The quote and its source floats around — I'll try to find it.

Norton was rebuilding himself after two back to back loses to Ali and Foreman. He fought Kirkman (a good stay busy fight) three months after the George title bout, then took a break, fought Brooks to shake off ring rust and took on Quarry 20 days later. Stander, Middleton, Lovell, and Garcia were all either tough journeyman or fringe contenders, but he fought them all in the span of a year before taking on Ali again.

This was in an era where record padding was more acceptable because the fighters were in the ring more often and those fights weren't typically milked like some PPV event.

Not sure what mongrel would blame Wladimir for not taking on his own brother. Clearly haven't had on himself.

Fury vs Joshua would have been great, with Chisora vs Arreola as a much entertaining chief support.

Instead we get Fury vs Chisora and Joshua vs Arreola

No, it's because many better heavyweights are being avoided.

Kossobutskiy, Makhmudov, Jalalov, Dychko, Hrgovic, Wallin, Bakole, Zhang, etc are good strong heavyweights who have been ducked by the over-protected heavyweights who want "safe" opponents.

It's a poorly promoted heavyweight era.

When they cant face top fighters or nearly because scared to end their career definitely they always invite to fight Takam, Arreola, Chisora, Molina and other with dentures and prosthesises. Its enough. Pathetic.

Why dont face Dubois, Makhmudov or Hrgovic?

I really doubt Joshua would waste his time with Arreola. IMO, they are doing the Zhang fight next. Outside chance for Wallin and McKean.

Fury could man up and face someone different than Chisora. Kossobutskiy, Joyce, Makhmudov, Hunter, Sanchez or at least Kabayel.
No one is interested in seeing a gross mismatch for the 3rd time.
