****-poor reasoning if you ask me.

Hopkins eats southpaws for breakfast as evidenced by his 11-0 record against them. And Hopkins is, technically speaking, a much more sound fighter than Calzaghe has ever been. He also happens to be one of the most intelligent fighters to ever enter the ring, and his versatility inside the ring still remains unrivaled.

Calzaghe has a predictable style which has worked well for him against very good competition; that **** ain't going to work against an elite speciman like Hopkins.

Hopkins is going to rough Calzaghe up, and you and your fellow fans are in for one hell of a rude awakening.

Hey, I've been wrong before and I'm sure I'll be wrong again. If Calzaghe does beat Hopkins, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong, but I just cannot envision this happening.

Calzaghe's reputation went sky-high after he exposed that one-sided hack, Lacy. In fact, it's become even more ridiculous since he beat Kessler. Neither fighter is anywhere near the level of Hopkins, and you Calzaghe fans are about to learn this the hard way.

I'd be more apt to agree with you 5 or 6 years ago. But today, Hopkins appears to prefer clinching than roughing anyone up. I think Calzaghe at this stage would be too quick to have B-Hop smothering his punches.

Have you ever seen Winky look more beaten and battered than he was at the end of the Hopkins bout?

No. But I had not seen him weigh 170 lbs. before that either.

Just watch the Calzaghe-Kessler/ B-Hop-Winky tapes and tell me if there's any chance in the world that Hopkins gets his right hand down the middle first? If you find it hard to, consider that Bernard is physically fit n apt to do what Mikkel couldn't and that is simply to beat him to the punch... Cause Bernard is long-muscled, accurate and has balance just like Joe does, and that's why Joe doesn't want to test - if he can get on the wrong side of a tactical battle, that's all... Otherwise, I would always favour Joe to beat Bernard, but it's Joe that doesn't want it.

I'm willing to wager Calzaghe doesn't lose! Both are great fighters, but Joe will prove too busy for Hopkins at this stage of their careers.

Fair enough, but Winky was a P4P elite, and he and Hopkins were both fighting at 160 not long before they squared off.

Hopkins reduced Winky to almost nothing due to the mastery of his craft; I suspect we'll see something very similar against Calzaghe.

Hopkins fought Winky much in the same way he fought Keith Holmes, which came as no surprise to me. If you're convinced that Hopkins can nullify Calzaghe's best asstes and if you believe Calzaghe is simply going to overwhelm Hopkins with work rate, you're all in for a rude awakening--mark my words.

With all due respect, this is the argument being pushed forth by the Calzaghe faithful that I find most laughable!

The workrate will be a non-issue.

    He's always like that.

    Can't be puzzled.

Got a mind like a steel trap.

His posts are full of profound and insightful points, demonstrating his perspicacity of mind.

He backs up his positions with well-reasoned arguments and relevant stats and facts.

You're wasting your time there, lad.

If he says Bernard will beat Joe, you can take that to the bank!

I just don't understand how you believe B-Hop will overcome Calzaghe's work rate and quickness. He was twice outworked by Taylor who is far less busy than Calzaghe.

Anyways, it's really a moot point because Hopkins will never take this fight. Trust me. (I hope I'm wrong)

Horse****! He did lose the first fight with Taylor, but got totally jobbed in the second. As Manny Stewart duly noted in the Hops-Tarver broadcast, Hopkins was having trouble making 160 for a long time.

Taylor and Calzaghe fight NOTHING alike, hence, invalidating the erroneous comparison from the get-go. STYLES make fights, and if Joe makes the mistake of throwing caution to the wind, he's in for some trouble.

Calzaghe may get away with making amateur mistakes that keep him off balance and out of position against lesser foes, but he tries that against Hopkins and he is going to pay and pay dearly.

I think the fight will happen, but if it doesn't happen, it's not going to be the fault of Hopkins, and in the end, Calzaghe needs Hopkins more than Hopkins needs Calzaghe--undeniably so.
