The bottom line is he flat out quit in the fight. He took a knee with Margarito rushing in to finish him with no punch thrown or landed.

Boxing is a brutal sport maybe you should follow ice skating or tennis.

Agree 100% Boo, these are the kind of losers who laugh @ fatal car wrecks. For the record, C. Zelanoff could probably kick my ass but I'm a bit past my prime.

I don't know about the will of Cotto yet, I'll have to see how he rebounds. I don't think our wills are comparable though, since we aren't going through the same thing. I would say I think he has less will than Paul williams and Clottey though.

I honestly never knew there were so many mind-readers in here. Please teach me how you knew for a fact that Cotto getting up from the 2nd knee instead of staying down meant that he was wishing for the fight to end. Do you not think that there is a chance he went down because his nose was broke, he was finding it hard to breath and hard to see, and he had no energy left at all? I think it could have been either reason, but I don't know for sure as I am not Miguel Cotto.

What I do know is he didn't quit, his corner pulled him out.

And I am not a big Cotto fan, I am just a boxing fan with a strong opinion on this matter.

So he didn't quit then? Make up your mind and stick to it.

Please explain once and for all: if someone did not quit, how did he show the behaviour of a quitter?

Surely behaving like a quitter involves one thing and one thing only: quitting?

I was so pissed @ these boneheads I didn't even think of these guys. If Cotto's such a quitter wtf didn't he just pack it in in round 7 or 9?

Ali biggest quitter ever? What a bunch of A-holes.

I think you're being over analytical here. Boxing is pretty much a unique phenomenon, I don't think any of us can imagine what he felt like when the fight was stopped. Notice also how he didn't quit but his corner actually pulled him out.

But the iron-clad stone-cold absolute crystalline FACT is that he simply didn't quit. No matter what you say, he didn't quit. You disagree? Fair enough, he didn't quit though. No no no, he still didn't quit. "Yeah but..." No but. He didn't quit.

Definitions of quit on the Web:
• discontinue: put an end to a state or an activity
Miguel Cotto took a knee to recover. He got up. His uncle jumped up on the ring apron. The referee saw him, and waved off the fight.

Did Miguel Cotto 'put an end to a state or an activity'? Did he make the decision to end the fight? Did he flagrantly break the rules of boxing, like turning away from your opponent, that he knows would mean the ref had to end the contest, thereby putting an end to the fight?

The FACT is: No. No. And no.

You can reply and argue all you like- facts are facts.

Who ever says that Cotto quit, has probably never had a drop of their own blood run across their face from fighting another person. And because of that they have no god damn right to voice their opinion on this matter. PLAIN AND SIMPLE, You're a god damn ***** if you claim Cotto was a quitter. A ****less ***** that has their head very far up their homosexual loose ass.

I disagree here. I think he signaled to the corner with the 2nd knee that he was ready to go, that is why he looked towards it when he went down again.

Why did he not just stay down for ten then? I can't believe we're even discussing this less than two days after witnessing such a great fight. If people can't appreciate that without denigrating either fighter then we deserve all the WBO mandatories we get.

He took a knee without getting hit. He quit plain and simple. He wanted out. Steward also said he heard Cotto tell the referee to stop it before he saw his corner throw in the towel. It is right there in plain English on the broadcast. Cotto quit.

He did not quit though. I'm not explaining it again. See above.
