cotto did not quit...he had the fight beaten out of him. Cotto gave it his best and that's all us fans can ask for. Cotto is a true warrior all of us boxing fans should honor. If i were ever fortunate enough to meet him i would say thanks for giving boxing fans an unforgetable night. This is coming from a margarito fan.

The thread starter is actually Scottish and has absolutely zero attachment to Mexico, Puerto Rico, or anywhere else other than Scotland.

margo did break his spirit nd heart, but left his brain still working and he used it to make the right decision for not only himself, but his young family, cotto is only young and if he continued the rest of the 11th and perhaps the 12th i gurante you cotto would be a shadow of his former self. he also has to think of things as a father, im sure he wants to be able to provide and enjoy his time with his kid (any father will know what im saying) if him taking a knee and having the fight stopped is frowned upon by certain posters all we can say is that we have different ideas of what the sport is about.

I agree with your sentiments, I do, but again the fact that it was Evangelista Cotto and not Miguel Cotto that got the fight stopped is getting overlooked. Miguel Cotto took a knee as he desperately needed time to recover from the brutality, he rose to get ready to restart, and his uncle saw the state he was in, knew that Miguel couldn't win, and forced the referee to stop it. Miguel Cotto did not make the decision. Did he protest? No. Did he look relieved? Yes. The guy was exhausted and in agony and was probably disconsolate at realizing he had lost but knew he couldn't go on... but he did not quit the fight. That must be recognized as it is what happened in the black and white of reality.

Man, I'm withyu. I remember watchin' Margo set on Cotto at one point and deliver three consecutive shots to the mid-section that likely cracked ribs with the second or third blow. Cotto did exceptionally well against a very strong and superbly conditioned fighter.

I laugh at all the so called experts who can assess Cotto's physical condition at the time of the fight & say he could of continued in the comforts of their lounge chairs. The man had nothing left, what do we want to see another Gerald McClellan. **** me, go have someone rain down on you for 30 mins, bust ya nose, make you swallow copius amounts of your own blood whilst fighting back a monster that just keeps on coming eating all your best shots. Some fight fans are never happy, I'll stick by Cotto he will be back thats for sure.

Isn't PACFAN the man that claimed Ricky Hatton was a cheater for clinching? when dropping to the knee when you're not knocked down is surely bending the rules as much as holding. And it shows less heart. You're still risking a nasty uppercut/rabbit punch when tangled up.

PACFAN is most definitely 1000% NOT the man who claimed Ricky Hatton was a cheater for clinching, you have got the wrong guy completely.

Tito's family stopped the fight v Hopkins when they knew he had lost the decision and would suffer needless pain if the fight carried on after he had been knocked down. Same situation. Tito and Cotto are both warriors we should respect.

I have no other qualms with your point though. Cotto took his beating like a man.
