Im compelled to start a new thread in respect to a comment Kosaros has made, let me quote his comments in regard to the Darchinyan v Arce thread .. 'Im not interested in the Super Flyweights, ive got more interesting fights to watch on Youtube' I find this an absolute outrage .. These small guys give they're heart and soul as much as any fighter for far less pay and for some guy to say 'Im not interested' is such a kick in the teeth, such an ignorant viewpoint that its astounding to me .. Vic Darchinyan, Jorge Arce and Cristian Mijares are brilliant fighters who deserve the utmost respect .... Not to mention the p4p great Ricardo Lopez who went unbeaten in 52 fights and is clearly in the top 3 fighters of the last 20 years .... Its an unbelievable that guys dont respect a guys acheivements based on the weight he fights at .. P4P, Ricardo Lopez was a superior fighter than Tyson, Calzaghe, Hopkins and its crazy that people dont respect his acheivements .. How can they be boxing fans ?? They are only interested in Marquee fighters, its so annoying ..
Wow, that one really got you going  I don't understand why people don't like the little men too, which in turn gets them less money than they deserve compared to show ponies like Oscar. I don't understand it, because the little men are quicker, tend to fight more often, throw more punches, are fitter, and are more likely to be involved in a tear up. Think of Izzy/Marquez, Wonjongjam/Naito, Hagesawa vs anybody, these guys give you bang for your buck. I draw the line at strawweights mostly, its like two mosquitos dancing around but I can appreciate their talents. And I personally don't rank Lopez as highly as you, simply due to competition. Techincally a very good fighter without doubt.
Ok thanks for devoting a thread based entirely on a comment I made. Let me explain: I have been a casual boxing fan for the past 10 years I started watching boxing seriously for the last 2 years I am sure the super flyweight is a great division, yet I really have not been able to catch any of the fights, apart from the recent darchinyan fight, due to the lack of coverage. I see other lower divisions as being more interesting, for example the lightweights and welterweights. There is not much british interest in this division. Due to me just starting to watch boxing seriously 2 years ago, I have went the obvious route through the divisions, which is heavyweight downwards to watch previous fights in the past, and because of this I have not got down to the super flyweight division yet. Hopefully in the future I can view more super flyweight fights, starting on saturday, because I am sure I have been missing out on some great fights, but because I have not been able to see the fights, that is why it does not interest me.
Kosaros forgive me for over-heating, i respect everybodys opinion on here and you are no different. I think Dunky is an idiot but everybody else's opinion i respect .... But buddy you cant make a bold statement like 'Im not interested in the Super Flyweight Division' if your a boxing fan .. I appeal to people to check out Ricardo Lopez, a Light Flyweight who for me was a 'complete' fighter, far more impressive to me than Tyson, Calzaghe, Trinidad, Chavez, Oscar or any of the other guys in his era .... If Lopez was operating in a more 'Marquee' division he'd be thought of as a Salvador Sanchez or a Barerra/Marquez but an ultra dominant version .. Kosaros im sorry i shot off a rant but these small guys deserve so much more respect than modern heavyweights and im talking about Lennox Lewis and Tyson not the robotic bums called Klitshko .... Watch Darchinyan v Arce next week, this will be a proper fight to savour
I can understand Kosaros not having as much interest in this division, I mean its fair enough not being as interested in one division as another but its not to say he doesn't have respect for the fighters. I follow boxing from the roots to the Blockbuster events and although i respect everyone that steps into the ring i would much rather watch a Word Heavyweight title fight in the bright lights of vegas than a Super Flyweight bout in mexico somewhere.
I can't comment on his talents, as you probably already know I have not seen any footage of him! I feel the problem with Ricardo Lopez (after a quick glance at boxrec) is that he was not in any notable, career defining fights which gets the whole world watching like those that you mentioned, and sadly for him he will not get the recognition he deserves because of him being in one of the 'lower' divisions. Although I promise you I will check out his fights and study up on this division ready for another super flyweight discussion on this forum!
In a quality heavyweight division i can understand your viewpoint but the Heavyweight Lewis era and now the Heavyweight Klitschkos era are a joke compared to the Super-Fly division .... I'd rather watch the warriors of the Super-Fly division than the Heavyweight, Cruiser, Light-Welter and Light-Heavy divisions any day .. How can you disregard a division because its physically smaller ?? The boxing skills have always been far superior in the lower weights. For me you see, skills, heart and strategy in these divisions .. Ricardo Lopez, everybody watch his fights. You will become a fan, i guarantee it !! ..
Kosaros, check out Ricardo's style .. Its as aesthically beautiful and elegant as Don Curry and Juan Manuel Marquez .... An absolute jem of a boxer
i have read worse outrages on this site before, there will always be people who dont like the lower weight divisions this is normal, its usually the newer boxing fans that have only been interested in a year or so have no time for the lower weight divisions arce darch, cannot wait myself
