I have never seen Haye so sharp defensively and although that doesn't win you fights, I think it needs recognition.

I was talking to someone in his pre-fight camp and they were telling me how finely tuned he was, which is what we saw.

I agree that Wlad fought a great fight which shut Haye down offensively.

Haye only fights interestingly when he is fighting bums. He fought scared even against Valuev and won a controversial decision by landing 6 clean punches to Valuevs 5.

 

I think Haye vs Adamek would be a very interesting fight.:hey

Great thread. Interesting to see all the different subtle things Wlad does with his lead hand.

Also liked the comparison between Pacquiao and Haye. As you said, both have at once bad balance and good footwork. Manny has improved his balance over the years but he still often steps his left leg over as he throws.

Haye had most success with his overhand right, but he seemed to lack the ability to follow up, partly because of his footwork problems, and also I think his tendency to attack in straight lines. As Wlad moved straight back, it would have been good to see Haye change the angle quickly and open up new opportunities.

 

Was a good fight to watch, although it was obvious Haye wasn't doing enough at the time. Klitards are mad Haye didn't stand in front of Wlad like all his usual victims. They told us before the fight Haye couldn't run because Wlad's ATG footstpeed would catch him up! They told us Wlad was going to brutally KO Haye! They told us David was going to have a pizza face! They told us Haye didn't 'deserve' the fight, yet the French Tyson, Wach and Pienata all earned their shots! They told us Haye was **** and nothing but hype, yet now he's one of Wlad's best wins!
