Pavlik vs Locket: Pavlick by way of I have never seen this other guy fight before. Ponce de Leon: Lopez by way of I don't wan't to see Ponce de Leon again on t.v. Forest vs Mora: Forest by decision, too much class for this guy Williams vs Quintana: Willams by SD and the necessary adjustments but close that being said Thoughts?
Whoops forgot about that part. Here's how I see JuanMa/PDL going down: First off, JuanMa and his team HAVE to realize what kind of a heavy hitter they have him in with (especially for how young he is and the step up PDL represents). This being said I believe JuanMa has to box PDL from the outside. I saw times during the Penalosa fight where he was scoring on PDL EASILY from the outside. PDL is there to hit, especially with some of the shots he just "wings" out there. The difference is that JuanMa has the stamina and workrate to really take it to PDL for the entire fight, unlike Penalosa. JuanMas problem is that I have seen him get caught in wars before, and I think he should try to avoid this. Getting in a scrap here and there is fine, but don't make a whole fight out of it, cause PDL has to the power to put anyone down. JuanMa has been caught flush before with right hands when he's coming inside, which is why I think he should just box effectively from the outside. He is plenty quick enough to slip PDLs power shots if he stays on the outside. The "X" factor in this fight is how good is JuanMa's chin? We have no reason at all to doubt it yet, but he has never tasted PDLs power. Regardless I give this fight to the young and hungry JuanMa, who is a better boxer than PDL imo. The way I see it is that if the fight stops early then PDL landed a bomb, and if it goes the distance JuanMa takes the decision. On another note DO NOT completely count JuanMa out for the tko. JuanMa has EXCELLENT power himself, I just don't expect him to sit on his punches and get caught in too many wars for this fight. Just my .2 cents!
Pavlik TKO 5 - His workrate, pressure and power will be too much for his overmatched opponent. Lopez UD - I think Lopez's superior skill set will allow him to control De Leon from a distance, much like his last opponent did. He has enough power to keep Ponce tentative and will exploit his defencive holes en route to a decision. Forrest TKO7 - Forrest is in a different class to Mora. He will outbox Sergio with his jab and superior timing aswell as catch Mora with some big right hands. Mora doesn't have the power to keep Forrest off of him, nor does he have the ability to fight up close. Forrest will keep him at a distance and stop him on accumilation. Quintana UD - I feel Williams won't be able to correct his defencive deficencies in only 4 months. The holes will still be there and a good counterpuncher like Quintana will always be able take advantage fo them. This time around Quintana should also have improved stamina, allowing him to keep a better pace late into the fight. Quintana times and outbox WIlliams similiar to last time. (116-112ish)
Good stuff dude. I have a feeling that they are going to try and rob Quintana, I might be changing my pick to a SD for him (with most people having a card of 116-112 at least)
Pavlik TKO 8 - I thought this would be over around 4, but having looked a bit more of Lockett I think he'll last longer. His chin is good, so he'll take some punishment. I predict his face will look like mush. Lockett is extremely slow in his movements, and he'll be completely unable to get past Pavlik's consistent work behind the jab. He'll also be unable to back up Pavlik, as he usually does against cans, which will upset his style. He won't know how to get inside effectively. Overall, a methodical clincical beating with either the corner stopping it or the ref Lopez UD - It's about time PDL's little run came to an end. My only worry is the questionable judging he gets. Escobedo layed down the blueprint for the way in which Lopez should go about his work. I expect him to be on his bike early on, jab and move, to tire PDL down and take some steam out of his wild swings. Look for bodywork from Lopez too. I'm looking for precise straight punching from Lopez, straight down the middle when PDL hooks wide. PDL will keep it close early on with work-rate, but Lopez should pull away in the later rounds as the pace slows and Lopez's superior footwork and skills will really make the difference. People also seem to forget he has the power to hurt Ponce too, so don't rule it out Forrest TKO 7 - Doesn't need much analysis. Mora ran from the great Elvin Ayala, so he isn't going to get in his face as Forrest is susceptible to. He won't win a chess match either, he will be severely outclassed by Forrest's length and jab, so there is no real possibility for him to win this fight. Only question is if he survives the distance, I say no, this is too much of a step up in class from the bum of the month circuit he's been on Williams UD - One thing that worries me is Williams weighing in at 145, he's skin and bones. I think we'll see a slightly more productive jab from Williams, which keeps Quintana circling and wasting energy. From there I believe he'll use his length, I don't want to see those sloppy mid-range arm punches that keep him in Quintana's range. I think Williams will make slight adjustments defensively, and overall it will be just about enough for him to outwork Quintana in the mid to late rounds where his stamina is questionable. I don't believe Williams can become a defensive master in a few months, he'll still be tagged consistently by the straight left early on. I'd hope he's done the correct sparring, and at least learnt to step right away from the southpaw straight left. He'll pull this out in a close one
How is Williams going to develop enough defence to remedy the counter punching of Quintana in 4 months? That's what I don't get with people taking Williams. I have Quintana by wide UD. 117-111, I don't rule out a TKO either if his stamina is better this fight and he keeps countering Williams to hell. I have Forrest mid rounds stoppage. I believe Mora will crumble against a fighter of this class, perhaps even quit. I like Lopez to TKO Ponce. Pavlik easy destructive win.
Williams UD Quintana - I believe Williams actually sparred southpaws this time around. Some slight adjustments from Williams here and this rematch looks very different from the first fight. Forrest UD Mora - Mora is a sucker for a right hand. Forrest will land his whenever he really feels like it. De Leon TKO 5 Lopez - De Leon lives for these kind of opponents. Someone who will move away and throw little so he can time then moving. See the Bautista fight for an example. Pavlik TKO 5 Lockett - gonna be a very fun fight. I think Lockett might have a moment in here because he's just like Pavlik only smaller. But he can still bang. Pavlik has the edge though in upper level experience. And I think he'll just outclass Lockett in a slugfest.
