Analyzing Rocky II The Rematch

    I wonder why Creed elected to fight Balboa again even though the fight was close he won. But it seems to me his ego was bruised and his feelings where hurt.

    Creed had nothing to prove he gave a club fighter a shot and he won; he fought with the heart of a champion broke ribs, internal bleeding, swollen eyes and he pulled it out in the middle rounds,and even knocked Balboa down in the 14th rd.

    That proved that he had strength and stamina but he went to the magic box once to many times, Creed insulted Balboa, TV, News Papers and lured Balboa back into a fight for the title a second time. Creed ignored his long time father figure and trainer Duke and sought a rematch with Balboa.

    Creed to me over trained he was punishing his sparring partners Joe Louis style and was possed, this may have caused him to over train and his rage blinded him in the rematch going toe to toe with a puncher.

    Balboa was a different fighter now he had fame , a house a wife and motivation. Adrians" words motivated him and he trained harder than the first time.

    He switched up and it confused Creed and this may have allowed him that one sec to become champ a great episode and fight Balboa KO (15 )2:59

    He had something to prove, an unknown club fighter gave the man who was supposed to be the best in the world all he could handle and nearly won. Can't forget the scene where Apollo is going through his hate mail, here's one of them,

    "You call yourself the champ? You're a fake! The fight was a fake. Go kill yourself!"

    Apollo was far past his prime by this fight, and still managed to win the vast majority of rounds against arguably the best version of Balboa presented in the films.

    Why :think ?

    He had clearly been the champ for some time, but there's no evidence to suggest he was far past his best.

    I believe he threw the second fight, he could have gotten up but he looked over at Rocky and admired his heart so much he threw the fight with one second left.

    I watched the tail end of Rocky Balboa last nite. I think the original Rocky was an all time classic and the crummy remakes paled in comparison tho 'Balboa' was a fitting end (outside of the actual 'fight')
    I have a question on the scoring in the film.
    SD for Dixon 95-94 95-94 94-95.
    Maybe its too early in the morning but how, on a ten point must system, did they come up with those scores?
    How could they score the fight that way?
    Any ideas?

    I could never understand the SD. In a ten round bout, if you get KD 4 times, no way you should get the nod on any scorecard. Mason would have 8 rounds in the bag.
