Agree this fight isnt as bad as people say, either Chavez steps up and proves he can hang with the big boys or Cotto will expose him as an hype job and makes him irrelevant once and for all either way we win but after that fight and assuming Cotto wins theres no excuse for him not to fight the other top junior middles.

Its not the first time that Cotto has taken an easier option (Gomez, Jennings)
but he always tends to follow this up by facing the top guys in his division.
Mosley and Margarito either side of Gomez and Clottey and Pacquiao after Jennings.

So yeah people tend give him the pass.

Comparing the flack Floyd gets is not really an apt comparison. Cotto does not walk around saying he is better than Robinson. Cotto is humble. Cotto has less talk to back up. Yet even still, at least in recent times, Cotto fights more the more dangerous foes. Cotto also has a history of seeking out challenges rather than avoiding them. So taking an easy fight for Cotto is percieved as exception unlike with PBF, where it is now the rule.

I think this is a decent fight, Chavez Jr. is still a threat, he hung in there with John Duddy and showed he had a decent chin... There are better fights for him of course at this weight, but i think he still needs at least one more camp to work with Steward before he goes up in competition again.

Cotto took a beating just two fights ago give the guy a break he will fight the top guys at 154 soon.

    This.

I thought Chavez looked better against Duddy. No doubt the betting odds will be close on this one, with Cotto being a slight favourite. Since your so certain he's going to win, why don't you stop being a whiney, menopausal ***** and drop a few grand on Cotto instead?

I dont think a fight with Chavez Jr is going to be a pik nik... Though I do feel Cotto will win, its not like Cotto doesnt deserve to have an easy fight every now and then I mean come on Jr has been at a higher weight his entire career thats an advantage its not like Cotto is bringing up someone from the light weight divison to fight him...

Also this will be yet another episode in the great rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico, you can bet those two communities will be all over this fight and make it a successfull event.

Cotto has fought many tough challengers, why shouldnt he get a gimme sometime?

As for PBF, nothing against him, but Cotto has faced 2 dudes who PBF hasnt faced yet. (Margs/Pac)

Lets dont go overboard now Freddy..I'm sure Jr could get better over the time with Roach in his corner, but Cotto is still too much for him at this point i feel...The smart money is with Junito here.

The two situations aren't even similar...Cotto's next opponent is rumoured to be Chavez Jr, and if thats the case...blame Arum. Mayweather is on vacation...his next opponent is potentially Pacquiao, who is facing Margarito next.

But, yeah...Cotto does need more say in who he faces next unless it is a mandatory (same goes for the majority of Top Rank boxers).
