What the **** you are talking negative things about Cotto and Gamboa had fought nothing but bums. And the worst thing is that both are almost the same age.

If people knew how much $$ these big name promoters make off the boxers, there would be outrage. Don King bragged about paying $30 million in taxes that one year.

:patsch Cotto isnt getting a free pass. If I was his manager I can understand why they chose this fight. He loses to paquiao and everyone says he is done. comes and defeats 2 undefeated fighter to gain some confidence for 2011. he will have atleast 1 or 2 big fights next year. not to mention another pr vs mexico match. if promoted properly its a nice pay check. i think its a smart move. :good

The more apt comparison would be Mayweather to Chavez Jr. Both built a huge undefeated record on soft touches. Only difference is Chavez Jr. is finally taking on a real threat. Something Floyd hasn't done since 2002 at lightweight.

    Are you for real?

  8. Cotto has never ducked anybody.. but he's gotten his ass kicked by some of the top guys. I can't blame him for taking on an overhyped undefeated fighter in a HUGE fight. Through no fault of his own, the Chavez fight is one of the biggest fights Cotto can take, its highly winnable, and its an opportunity to look really good in a really big fight.

    WIN/WIN situation for Cotto.

Meh, it'll be an attraction, and Chavez isn't as bad as people seem to think he is. I've often thought his problem isn't so much a lack of talent as a certain sense of entitlement because of who his dad is, he seems to think winning is his due and doesn't work for it. Cotto only just moved into the division anyway, people have fought alot worse when moving up. I won't knock this fight. What else particularily exciting is there for him to do at light-middle anyway?

a small light punching foreman could've gone the distance if not for his injury, and was landing monster right hands (one of jr's best punch)

a very inactive clottey went the distance

how is a big, young, power punching guy like chavez gonna get stopped...especially when he has a solid chin and a good body attack too

1st off.... this fight isnt as easy as most of the people think (like ive been saying)

2nd - Its non comparable to Mayweather. Mayweather is the 'king' of the sport just about, and is completely on top and ready for action. Cotto is one fight removed from almost back to back beatings and is trying to rebuild under a new trainer. The situations are completely different.

If Cotto was p4p #1 or 2 in the world, undefeated, and was going up to fight Jr (or taking a vacation) instead of fighting the best around.... then i wouldnt give him a pass.

That being said.... i will say that this fight is completely STUPID on Cottos end. I wish i could tell Cotto just how dumb this fight is :-( Stupid... stupid move on Cottos part.

Taken from a post of mine earlier but it applies here.

I love Cotto (no homo) but people i think will be suprised at how much trouble my boy Cotto has with Chavez Jr.

I dont like this fight one bit. What exactly does Cotto have to gain in this fight? If i was Cotto i wouldnt take it.

Here, fight this kid whos almost twice your size, who most people are just barely coming to terms with that hes not completely average, if you whoop his ass every minute, its pretty much 'expected', if you struggle with him you will be heavily criticisised, if you lose to him it damages your standing immensily, so take him even though your around a division surrounded by names (Berto, Angulo, Williams) who would love a fight with you and who losing to is 10x more acceptable then losing to Jr, and who beating is 10x more meaningful.

Add to that, that i garuntee this is not an easy fight for Cotto. The size difference alone will be huge, add that i GARUNTEE YOU Roach will have JR in cottos face all night long, Jr has shown he has a chin and can trade all night long when in proper condition.... and Ariza and Roach will have him 100% ready for this fight.

Cotto vs a very big guy who has some pop, good chin, and will be pressing him every minute of the fight does NOT equal an easy Cotto win, despite those saying it will be.

I realise that Chavez is nowhere near Cotto in terms of how good they are, but you will all be shocked when you see how small cotto will look next to Jr... and this isnt a pitty patter Foreman we are talking about here.

This reminds me somewhat of the Margarito fight where I knew the fight was going to be grueling and most people kept harping on how Cotto was going to totally outclass him.

This fight shouldnt be happening, Jr is a middleweight and Cotto should be at 147...

That being said, WAR COTTO... im with him no matter what anyways. And i do think that with his class, he should simply have too much for Chavez, despite the size disadvantage.

watch and see. Cotto will not have an 'easy' time with Jr

I will say however that i will GLADLY eat my crow on this if Cotto wins big.... it would suck beyond belief if Cotto lost to Jr I realise most will call me out on this and say i dont know ****, but im pretty confident in my opinion here. Hope ya'll are right though

And for the record, im not saying Cotto WONT beat Jr... im saying he wont do it as easy as most say, he will get busted up, and the fight is just stupid for him to take.

    JUST IMO

    War Cotto
