No, its because he knows his boxing and knows how these two fighters match up with eachother.

Ill bet anything anybody wants that Cotto doesnt stop Jr....

(and ill be rooting for me to lose too )

Dont take this fight Cotto... nothing to gain by beating this kid. Take on a better opponent, but one your size and much better scalp!

    War Cotto

This would be Cotto second fight at 154, in my mind he's just testing the water to see how hot it is. You have to take into consideration he did loose two fights, suffering two bad ass beatings by two different fighters who has the word cheater hanging in the balance over there head. I think he's doing the right thing by taking things slow for now.

I think Cotto wins because hes that much better, and should be able to cruise the last couple rounds to a UD, but m'man im telling you, Cotto will NOT be stopping Jr :deal

Fellas.... for you guys saying that hes taking it slow, and that this is a win/win situation... you guys REALLY think Jr is THAT bad?

Look here, if Cotto struggles with Jr.... people will **** on that.

"Cotto even struggled against the complete hype job Chavez JR''

Ya.... taking a soft touch can be what Cotto needs right now, especially trying to gel with M.S, but at least take one against a more natural 154lber or 147lber.

This fight is NOT a win/win.... unless Cotto goes out there and completely blows JR out of the water like some of you think, then ya i can see it being a harmless fight. (but that wont happen)

but thats all ill say on that matter for now. We are all got our opinions and i hope you guys are right :good

I try not to buy into the conspiracys in boxing, but i also have a feeling that this is what Arum is trying to do.

This is really one of the dumbest threads ever. There's no valid point made in the original post at all.

    I'M an idiot
***** that's a smart bet on the size difference alone...

and if i'm such an idiot, then why did i win big on margo vs cotto, zab vs baldo, soto vs juarez, ortiz vs maidana, agbeko vs darchinyan, and donaire vs darchinyan.....it's cause i know my **** fool, and if you wanna believe that i'm a biased fan, then go ahead and believe so....i watch every single fight ****en possible, i know/knew about these fighters when they were fighting on networks you never even ****en heard of.....so miss me with that ****....

cotto aint ****en prime, he was getting rocked by foreman for ****s sake by a punch that happens to be one of jr's best punches.....
i love cotto, but his time is coming to an end and he has absolutely no business in there with chavez jr, at all.....this fight makes no ****en sense to me at all, but it is what it is and cotto will not walk thru chavez the way people are thinking he will.....

I think the new Chavez Jr. is way different than the Chavez Jr. we knew... More focus and improving his skills is very noticeable and I believe his last fight show all of that. We are talking about Chavez Jr. who was going to face Pavlik, but instead Cotto is what they are aiming for. Credit for Chavez Jr. for stepping up and Cotto for making everything happen.
