I have his utter destruction of Enson Inoue on dvd, but the only other fight I've seen of his is a timid defeat to Overeem. I will try and watch some more :good

 

Just to show you how badass Igor was, this was a guy who was a natural light heavy who fought some massive heavyweights and fought primarily at heavy during the early MMA days Vale Tudo bare knuckle. He was the first guy to beat a PRIME Mark Kerr although the fight was eventually ruled a NC because in PRIDE 7 there were supposed to be no knee's to a downed opponent. Didnt really matter much as Igor was steam rollering Kerr. He still beat him in the rematch again a year later anyway. He's career ledger has around 60 or so fights. But Igor had waaaay more fights than that. Many of which were not sanctioned.

Look out on the highlight for a guy wearing a Reddish Leotard. Thats Paul Varelans. Varelans was 300lbs and 6ft 8. He outweighed Igor by 100lbs and was a FOOT taller.
Igor = BAD MAN! Thats the same Varelans that Kerr annihilated in Brazil at Vale Tudo WVC.

It's too bad Chuck's lifestyle did more damage to his career than his fights. He partied too much and I knew him more for his gut by the time i started watching UFC frequently. If he could have been as clean and in shape his whole career as the Franklik fight, who know if he could have retired on a better note instead of back to back losses.

 

now he'll be one of the 'suits', i wonder if he'll get rid of the mohawk?

 

It was time for him to leave. He had nothing left to proved.

 

Chuck fought hard and partied hard. He also got old.
For an aged fighter to go out on back to back losses isnt any shame. Additionally rightly or wrongly Chuck fought many more strikers towards the lata end of his career which only highlighted the flaws that were already present in his striking even from his early days.

 

He cant ever get rid of that. The day he does he's no longer "Chuck".

 

He retires a Legend of the Sport; MMA would have been poorer without him; a pioneer.

However, it is clearly long overdue. He has had his clock cleaned on a number of occasions in recent times and his chin now is one of the very worst in the history of combat sports.
