Crawford has shown better p4p skills but gets far less hate. Crawford wins by boxing within the rules and not fouling
Nah I ain’t wearing it,so easy to pull that card,Ward may be many things a decent boxer for one but being Humble ain’t something you’d associate with that man. You’re in a minority in Wards own country that seems to like him and that’s fine but like I said his own fans never voted on their feet by actually filling venues up to watch him. Such a lame excuse that I could if believed it level at you with Pac,just shouldn’t be an issue at all.
You can’t mention that, just like I shouldn’t mention having Crawford PFP no 1 as that wouldn’t fit or make sense would it. I sussed out that in smaller fights like those tune ups he boxed beautifully with hardly any holding, fouling, wrestling ect ie against Barrera, thing is Ward worked out long ago that in the big title fights with a Ref onside that he could win fights by doing very little boxing and by lunging in,grabbing and holding and wrestling his opponents for up two minutes a round he gets the win without risking getting knocked out it’s that simple. Some would call it genius, some unsportsmanlike, myself I just find it very hard to watch and even now if you asked me to remember any highlights of Froch v Ward I couldn’t bring to mind one single play or memorable shot. Hate that n all when folk say it’s a fight what do you expect as if they would still be watching the sport if everyone were allowed to fight like he did. Fortunately for us he was a one off,Canelo and Golovkin hardly needed a Ref at times, there’s footage of Froch with the commentators going on about Ward using elbows lol I kid you not.
Ward is really just an unlikeable guy. I remember when HBO did a special last year on retiring fighters. They were of course in the bag for Ward being the premier retirement of the year, and he was very matter of fact about his placement above Wlad by HBO. Personally, I'd easily rank Wlad as having the better career of the two. But I suspect Wlad would be gracious enough to demure or be equivocal about it.
Yeah. Usyk is basically indisputably one of the 2 best of his division all time. Ward isn't quite. I think there is already a good argument Usyk is better.
I like how Ward knows everything about fighters he is considered better than but even though he is retired any fighter that people say are better than him he doesnt know much about them. Cant give a foreigner any credit Andre?
If a retired tennis pro commentating on a major sports network claimed not to know who Djokovic or Nadal were they'd be laughed out of their jobs. Ward claiming not to know about Usyk shows that he's either lying (in which case he needs to be fired for unprofessionalism) or grossly ignorant of the sport he is hired to provide expert opinions on (in which case he needs to be fired for unprofessionalism). Lucky for him this is boxing and such rampant ignorance is considered perfectly normal.
Interviewer: ''Usyk is a beast, though, he looks so complete!'' Ward: ''Yeah he is. I mean we don't know how much of a beast he is.. he seems to be a good fighter (''good'' lol). Then he rolls out his good old ''I haven't seen much of him (Usyk) line which Serge could've predicted with great accuracy. You've seen much more of him than you make out you have, Dre. Much more lol. You just don't want to give your brother in Christ credit lol This content is protected Listen to what Ward says here about only having seen 1 or 2 rounds of Kovalev in action. This content is protected Now listen to what he says here Timestamped This content is protected Now listen to this Virgil Hunter interview from 2013 where he talks about John David Jackson approaching him years before telling him that he's working with a fighter (Kovalev) who has the beating of his boy Ward. Just reference what Ward said in the Edwin Rodriguez press conference video I posted about how close Ward is with Virg and how they discuss everything with each other. But Ward is going to be keeping an eye on Edwin Rodriguez for many years so he doesn't get ''caught by surprise'' by him but not keeping one one on the beastly Kovalev This content is protected
How much of a beast is the ''good fighter'' Usyk? Unified a division in just 15 fights, winning all of his world titles in his opponent's backyards, winning all of his world title fights on the road, all bar one of which in his opponent's backyards (fought 6 of his 7 world title fights in his opponent's backyards), and he's beaten 4 undefeated fighters in their countries, 3 of whom were reigning world champions, and 5 current or former world champions, and not a Ukrainian ref or judge in sight for any of his world title fight to help facilitate his path to victory or to bail him out if he finds himself in trouble. And on top of all that he won all his fights via clean boxing and zero deck stacking or rolling with loaded dice. Usyk the road warrior extraordinaire. The Anti-Diva. ''I think they're going to be some of my last fights (fights at home) and at this moment I plan on travelling a lot throughout the world, and I wanna fight all over the world'' This content is protected ^^^ Usyk doesn't need to cheat or stack the deck in the slightest to get the win. Not only does he hold zero fear of fighting on a level playing field like certain other fighters do, but he will travel and fight on one that is stacked against him in his opponent's favour at the drop of a hat time and time again like certain other fighters never has and has expressed extreme reluctance to do. That's called truly ''daring to be great'' lol Glowacki (26-0) in Poland (WBO champ) Mchunu (17-2) in the US (neutral soil) Hunter (12-0) in the US Huck (40-4-1) in Germany (former long reigning WBO champ) Briedis (23-0) in Latvia (WBC champ) Gassiev (26-0) in Russia (unified WBA and IBF champ) Bellew (30-2-1) in England (former WBC champ) This content is protected Hey bro ^^^ you forget to mention he was robbed in the 2008 Olympics against that spoiler SOB Russo who went onto to win silver that year and had you not been you were virtually guaranteed to win the gold in Serge's esteemed opinion, thus making you a 2 x Olympic gold medalist. Amateur record of 335-15 You also forgot to list Usyk's gold and bronze medals at the European championships and his world championship bronze. This content is protected Do you know what this bellow is called? It's called ''doing it the hard way'' This content is protected Guess which fighter it was who said that ''doing it the hard way'' line? lol
Look, Ward was one of the greater fighters of the past era. However, not recognising that Usyk is currently sensational tastes like sour grapes to me. If he's not that good then Ward should make a comeback and school him
Yeah I saw that interview. Remember when Ward said that a rematch between him and Froch over in England would've at the very least equalled Froch vs Groves II, if not surpassed it. It would take Ward a lifetime to fill an 80,000 stadium
