you force a guy to fight at a time which is the middle of his normal sleep. Froch looked REALLY bad tonight. He looked slow, uninspired, and apathetic most of the fight. Still I had the fight 8-4 or 7-5. But I don't think Jonson would have won a round against a Froch fighting at a time when he body didn't think it should be sleeping.
Nah, Froch showed true grit. He has always had leaky defense and been uncomfortable when pressured. He got in a groove during the end and threw combinations to finish the fight off. He has always been slow. Ward is on another level than this guy.
His opponent was tough, that's why he looked bad. Johnson was constantly aggressive and trying to land big shots as he did, Froch had to handle him and he did fine. Give credit to Johnson than blaming Froch, he wouldn't look bad if his opponent wasn't there to win.
Maybe we could buy that explanation if it was something that happened during the fight. However, Froch seemed apathetic, worried, and weak before the fight even started. When I saw him during the presentation I thought "wow... he looks like a weak version of himself that was just woken up in the middle of the night.
Froch just isn't that impressive. He often gets the win but often doesn't look inspiring in the process.
I know. Froch is not a technical wonder and does not look that athletic etc. during a fight. However, he does look fired-up and ready to go for all of his fights. He looks like a wild grinning animal ready to go. For this one... his fire was not there even before the fight. Totally different energy than in his usual fights.
Froch needs to control the tempo to be at his best. He couldn't so the fight was difficult for him. I'm not sure that the jet lag has something to do with that but maybe.
