And THAT is why Pacquiao wouldn't fight Cotto at 154.

Mornin, I'm back, had to get back into this thread.

Cotto could very well beat Pacquiao very easily in a rematch, but I just don't think weight has much to do with it since I believe the beginning of the end happened in their first fight before Cotto even had a chance to fade. He seems to keep his hands up more now and probably wouldn't just sit there going blow for blow with wide shots against a speedy guy throwing inside of his shots. If he did win it would be because he is a smarter fighter now. He actually seems to use strategy now instead of throwing stuff he practiced in a gym.

I never thought there would ever be a demand for a rematch, especially immediately after Floyd just beat Cotto lol. Let's demand this fight at whatever weight, since Pacquiao seems to do better against slower guys anyway, see what happens.

just for the record, Pacquiao is not my favorite fighter but I do consider myself a fan, and even I believe that 154 title was BS. I can agree with the critics on that point. Why win titles just for the sake of winning them when it doesn't mean you are the legit champ? Maybe they did it for the boxrec guys 100 years from now who won't even notice he never defended it.

oh god, the never ending catchweight whining. SRL had numerous catchweight fights. that's right, we should hate him.

That's been covered plenty of times and always points out to be ridiculous.

The only reason Cotto is at 154 is because he ran away from 147 to rebuild his career on weaker opponents at 154, which worked very well against Foreman and Mayorga.

I picked Cotto to beat Margo in a rematch BEFORE Pac permanently damaged Margarito. I figured all he needed to do was move for 12 rounds and Pedro Diaz basically taught him how to box moving back a lot better.

The weight has no bearing on it, its a matter of styles. If you are there to be hit, Pac will destroy you ala Hatton, hence why Mosley and Cotto started running the latter half of the fight. Mayweather meanwhile will simply outbox you. If you can box well, you may frustrate Pac, Mayweather meanwhile will be in his element and box the **** out of you cos nobody outboxes him.
