I am not disagreeing with your principles. I am saying, get off your high horse, this is boxing, you are a long time fan (I remember you from years back), you know the score as far as this sport goes, deal with it, ideology does not work.

 

Uhm, theres a bit of a difference between acknowledging what happens in the sport, which I think we can all see and tonight was more evidence of and actually saying robberies are beneficial. You're doing the exact same thing as us, offering an opinion, it just happens to be quite a bizarre one. So I think its you that needs to take a step off that horse.

 

I am just a harden cynic. I have come to realize if you do not have robberies, you get worse, you get fixed fights, because no promoter is going to risk his big name going down the toilet.

I do not know about you, but going down the pro wrestling route, is not for me. I would rather have a debate about an outrage that can go on for years. That is beauty of boxing, you go on the classic forum, people still debate Abe Attell, he was around a century going.

No disrespect to this Palacios, but he is going no where. So perhaps a decent pay day in a rematch and a sympathetic thread from the hardcore is about as good as it is going to get? Hence my "everyone is a winner" quote.

 

it wouldnt be a bad thing for the sport if malignaggi did retire. he was only on the end of one suspect decision and was given an immediate rematch, so he does really have any business complaining about anything.

 

Your missing the point, they just shoudn't happen no matter who it's to, I just used him to back up my point. Boxers work hard in the gym, trainers work hard everyone works hard.. if they are going to rob people like that then what's the point? Mayswell just get some nobody in off the street and say look, no matter how hard you fight you won't win this.

 

If a fighter a champion is defending his titlle and has an off day or suffers an injury I have no problem with them getting the decision if it was a close fight. They are still the better fighter and still deserve the name on their resume as we know they would have won any other night.

But had he got the decision and world title that he deserved he'd have lots more opportunities than just a rematch: hometown defences, big unification fights, a place in the cruiserweight super 6. After getting robbed the best he can hope for is a rematch or a shot at one of the other champions.

 

Looking at his resume, he seems a fighter of limited appeal, who fought in small shows in the south of the USA, beating poor/average journeymen.

He has only fought once in his country of residence and at approaching 34, he has limited appeal to anyone trying to create a Cruiserweight Super six unification tournament.

There is limited appeal in the division anyway amongst the causal observer. So who ever organizes this, would want the Pole in, as he is a good sell in his home country at least.

But under the present economic strain, is it worth pursuing the tournament if Palacios is in it?

My hunch is no. So surely the best Palacios can get is another decent pay day? That works whether he is champ or not.

But if Wlodarczyk loses the title, The Super Six competition you talk of, is probably dead.

 

Its one thing that annoys me about boxing i havent seen this fight but as has been said its someones livelihood that is being messed about with,some things are subjective but when they get i badly wrong as this sounds its shocking.
