Who said otherwise? What do you mean "admit"? There haven't really been any proven "elite" fighters that were super heavies that aren't Klitschkos since Lewis. But how many "elite" heavies did Lewis beat that were his size or larger? Would anyone call Michael Grant an "elite" fighter? Was Shannon Briggs even really "elite"? No and although Tony Thompson and Ray Austin were Wladdy's size and top 20 heavies, they aren't "elite" fighters. So? He isn't fighting non-existent fighters. You've got me.
So Wlad is over-rated because he is good at using his size advantage, that's like saying Mayweather is over-rated just because he has an "unfair" natural speed advantage. If Wlad was still a fighter but much smaller chances are he would fight completely differently. He fights the way he does BECAUSE he is tall, it's not just coincidence.
I never said size was "an overwhelming factor", but it's a big one. the rest is just semantics. wlad and valuev typically enjoy very big size advantages over opponents (obviously valuev's 4 inches taller or so depending upon your source), wlad is a much more effective HW not because his size isn't a major factor but because Valuev overall athletic ability is **** poor (speed, agility, reflexes etc). put it this way if wlad were 6'3 he'd still be a good hw, if valuev were 6'3 (w/ the same abilities) he'd be a custodian. it's the added size which makes wlad great (or near great) and makes valuev a b-/cplus hw. not trying to knock wlad, he was blessed with great size and other natural skills and abilities and has put it all to good use. it's just a shame there aren't many pro boxers his size with those same abilities cuz if there were there we migh actually be able to have a super hw or similar division where guys like chambers and ibragimov would definitely not belong
If you don't think it's an overwhelming factor than it's not a "no wonder he's dominating" issue, is it?:think 7'2 by NYSAC and 6'6 for Wlad. ...and a ****load more natural weight.
atsch what's the problem here. size is a big factor in his favor and it helps him put on dominating performances, maybe the tread starter said it's the only reason or its an "overwhelming" factor and your confused. also, i've read valuev's height is anywhere from 6'10 to 7'2 so who knows. and it's that "****load of more natural weight" which cuts down his effectiveness. the whole point i was trying to make was that size definitely matters and if you got two similarly skilled and athletic boxers but one is naturally 4 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier, it's a big help. i was not trying to say that wlad is only good because he's tall. i think it's also important to remember that wlad has also been able to put on some dominating performances because the opposition has been very weak
I don´t know why people attack Wlad for using his height. That´s so weird. Why do you attack a fighter for using his strengths? It is like saying "damn, Usain Bolt runs so fast, because he is too tall". And when the threadstarter overread this " Haye/Valuev? Dempsey/Willard? Louis/Buddy Baer? Chagaev/Valuev? Qawi/Everybody? ", I knew, it is all about hating...
Yeah, he does have a huge advantage, but who is suppose to fight? Chambers is good, and deserves a shot..He's going to get beat like everybody else. Haye is near there size, but doesn't have the skill...Whenever they finally get it on. There's nobody else to my knowledge that deserves a shot, or is capable of beating these guys.
he's got great physical advantages and also alot of dicipline. When he goes to training camp he's training. Unlike many other fattys in the HW division. These combined is the reason why he is dominant
But at HW, a 30 pound weight advantage isn't always beneficial. Tye Fields or Valuev wouldn't have a chance against Chambers. Ali and Louis usually are in the top 3 ATG list and are not supersized HW's. At a certain point, size decreases mobility and stamina so much while not translating into more power necessarily. Wlad is an amazing athlete for his size, that's what makes him special, nit his size alone.
