Having lost 3 of his last 5, and having suffered grueling defeats in his last 2 fights is there a chance Mr Anderson is finished? Where can anyone see him going from here. Presumably the best thing for Kev would be a year away from the sport with only light training before staging a comeback. He's rarely produced since his stunning (and draining win) win over young mutley. He produced in spirts against Ali, although I feel Magee was shot to pieces when Kev beat him. Francis Jones was another grueling fight he didnt need.

    So, Anderson, finished?

He is an old 24. But has also been found wanting at British tite level, I think it is a simple case that he isnt really good enough for a long career against the best in the country. He isnt a super talent and done well to achieve what he did.

I agree that he should probably take a year off from the sport as he has had some tough fights lately but i wouldnt say he is finished, far from it.

He can still mix it at British/euro level and still has a lot to offer. Talk of being finished at 24 is a bit of an over reaction in my opinion.

do scottish boxers bald more quickly than their english counterparts? anderson...mcguire....?

anyway, i don't think ando is finished. what i find strange though is that he is quite small for a welterweight without looking particlularly muscular. is he carrying a little extra fat?

like watt said, maybe he just needs a few months off. then maybe one or two warm up fights before going for a british title eliminator or the commonwealth.

I thought the same thing while watching the fight, he looks small and fat at welterweight, maybe going down a weight or two may be good for him because at the moment he is just in the league of alot of guys at that weight.

He needs time off to get himself back in a decent mental state, jumping into more quick meaningful fights will only do him harm.

I can't comment as i haven't seen him fight recently but his defeat must be totally demoralising.

One thing for sure, if he has found his level, he would be a tremendous gate-keeper for the weight for the next 2-3 years.

I suppose it depends on where you think Ando sits, it was only 18 months ago some were saying he was true world class and he could easily mix with the title holders at 147. Dont get me wrong, I understand there are still fights out there for him, but then there are still fights out there for a lot of guys who have gone from the sport becasue they dont want to be fighting at a certain level.

He doesnt look anywhere near the fighter he was back in 2006, thats for sure.

I think his last few performances have been sloppy. He does look rather padded, and a move down to 140 may help - though 140 is probably stronger at domestic level than 147 (open to debate really!).

I don't actually think McIntyre is better than him, but appears to have his number - the first fight was decided within the first 30 seconds, whilst he tried to murder Macca in the second fight at times and got outboxed.

Maybe he has been exposed, I don't know.

Perhaps six/eight months off before a return - then we will see what he is made of.

Think he needs a good rest and a move down to 140... its not an awful lot of weight to shift.

I've known Kevin for many years - although very tallented has never looked toned at the weight , when he turned pro along with barry morrison - barry turned as a light welterweight and it was felt that Kevin should take up the heavier weight - dont know if this was a ploy from Gilmour for some sort of domination - however I do remember Gilmour clearly claiming that both boys would be British Champs in 3 years - in response to Anderson moving down - dont know if this would be in his best interests either - he now looks slightly jaded and may find it more difficult coping with the improved workrate and speed at light welter from the likes of Barnes, Morrison, Lynes - your first point appears the preferred option for Kevin - Take a good rest and re-evaluate

Probably right edster - almost as if he would be at his best in between the two divisions, which seems almost crazy.

I think some of the domestic fighters at 140 are very good indeed, I would be hard pressed to name a stronger division in the UK at the moment - this has been the case for quite some time.
