That's where context matters. Beating shot to pieces belt holders who were never much good in the first place is why Helenius wasn't hyped up. Who the hell in mainstream boxing was hyping up Helenius? Even Dereck Chisora was spoken about more than Helenius and there was outrage after the perceived robbery. The talk was all Price and Fury, especially after Fury dealt with Chisora (before he even faced Helenius). The mainstream were championing Price and the documentary was released (The Next Big Thing), which subsequently vanished from YouTube days after Price lost to Thompson. A sizeable minority weren't buying the Price hype and argued that Fury was the next big thing. Boxing commentators on YouTube such as Richard Dwyer were firmly in this camp. Nevertheless, the Price balloon was soon burst after the first Thompson bout and became something of a bad dream after he was pumped the second time. This is an unremarkable and uncontroversial summary, so not sure why you've got your knickers in a twist.
Fury bought the Price hype hence why he ducked him. And you're not digging yourself out of your hole. Nobody rated Fury higher than Helenius at that point in history. He may have brutually KO'd 3 former world title holders who were past their best but they sure as fcuk were more capable than John Mcdermott at the time. Fury was a regional fighter at that point and going life and death at that level. Things chance in boxing though.
Yeah, I'm sure everyone who is bashing him could take shots from a man who is 30lbs heavier than they are and comeback to win the fight. Anderson put up a good fight but he just couldn't keep Bakole off of him. It was going to be a bruising fight for him. Let's see how he comes back after this loss.
Not to kick a man when he's down, and to be fair I gave him credit and defended him, but I did warn Anderson he would pay for arrogance towards Bakole This content is protected
Anderson received a much needed humbling. I actually like him but he was clearly too getting too big for his boots, and I think he never expected Bakole to be as beastly as he was. Credit to him for staying in the fight as long as he was able, but his defensive failings were really on full display in that fight; every time Bakole threw a straight shot Anderson would lean right back and get tagged. Obviously that was going to take its toll. On a side note that casual arm punch uppercut Bakole landed in the fifth was as sickening a shot as any I've seen. It completely bobble headed Anderson like his neck bones had suddenly turned to jelly. After that it was only a matter of time before he was stopped. Can Anderson learn from this defeat and come back stronger? Err, in theory yes. But I have my doubts if he'll actually do it. I don't think he has the grit or mentality to rebuild from a humbling beatdown like this, and he's already talked about retirement so his heart's clearly not one hundred percent in the game. He might disappear like Seth Mitchell did when Arreola blitzed him, or become a shadow of himself like Bryant Jennings. I hope not though. He's got an exciting style and clearly has a lot more talent than say Wilder, plus a ton of heart. But it's the mentality that gives me pause.
That’s a fair point. To put it into context the following fighters fought these on their 18th fight AJ fought Eric molina Fury fought Martin rogan Wilder fought Dominique Alexander parker fought Jason Bergman none of them are on same Level as bakole they never took them risks and if they fought a fighter like bakole at that stage of their careers it’s a good chance they lose their 0 a lot sooner than they did! it Was a step too far for Anderson but he had balls to do it unlike most of top fighters in division bar Usyk. He probs learnt more that fight than another 15 fights against bums
Yes Bakole patted him on the chest and told him he (Anderson) ''has got a good chin'' and said ''you look like you're ready'' to which Anderson replied ''I am'' and Bakole replied back with ''I know'' Bit of a weird exchange Timestamped This content is protected
Wow what a beta male girlyman. Why do American fighters always do fruity ass things like this? Is it supposed to be cool? Wilder twerking was even more embarrasing. Both deserved a good spanking for that and got one.
