For the vacant European Union (EBU) middleweight title, most recently held by Jack Culcay. Both men are coming off domestic title victories in their most recent bouts. The young Frenchman this past April thoroughly dominated & ultimately forced a corner retirement of Algerian-Rochefortoise former holder of the same belt Kamel Abdesselam in a successful bid to claim the national middleweight championship of France. Prestot had previously tried for the 154lb version and incurred his sole defeat, against Frank Haroche in 2015. Since moving up to middleweight he is on a 6-0 (4) run and showing good form in the ring, looking strong now in his proper division. The visiting Pole is coming off two consecutive battles with countryman Rafał Jackiewicz, in May & September. The latter contest, for the vacant Republic of Poland middleweight title, was IMO a robbery. I had Braveheart rallying from an early deficit to win 96-94 (and indeed two judges had this score mirrored each way in the SD) but one judge incredibly saw it 99-92 for Świerzbiński, who at the very least got very clearly beaten up in the last three rounds when he was completely gassed out. In what I believe is the actual main event (with Prestot vs. Świerzbiński ostensibly the co-featured attraction), Maiva "El Veneno" Hamadouche makes the fourth defense of her IBF super featherweight title against Swiss-Brazilian challenger Viviane Obenauf. Hamadouche is on a tear since losing to underrated Belgian lightweight champ Delfine Persoon three years ago, racking up a 10-0 (7) mark and cleaning house now that she has (like Prestot) found her most comfortable division...in her case the needed tweak being a move down rather than up. Also in action will be red-hot prospect Christian "Solide" M'Billi Assomo Hallier. The multinational phenom (claiming, I believe, Cameroonian and Canadian and French citizenship) is looking to keep his perfect KO streak alive, currently twelve for twelve. His opponent, Ilya Kharlamou of Belarus, has never been stopped - although his only steps up in class to date have been his two defeats to non-puncher Magomed Alievich Madiev and the aforementioned Świerzbiński who boasts just three career stoppages. Prestot vs. Abdesselam: This content is protected Świerzbiński vs. Jackiewicz II: This content is protected (parts of it anyway, from the nosebleeds on very shaky and low-quality video...) If you'd rather just read the RBR of it than give yourself a headache watching the above: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...-przemysław-gorgoń-vs-serhii-zhuk-rbr.614708/ Gala begins at 1700 local time (11am EST tomorrow morning), airing live on RMC Sport.
Sorry, minor correction: the first bell is at 1700 but live coverage on RMC Sport won't begin until 2035 local time in Paris. (that is 8:35pm CET, or 2:35pm EST)
Definitely worth tuning into this card. Hamadouche is always exciting, not just by women's boxing standards. M'Billi has become a can't-miss prospect. And while not world class, 6'1" light heavyweight southpaw Mathieu Bauderlique on the undercard has been in some very entertaining matches.
I have a professional seminar to attend like 90 minutes' commute from my apartment tomorrow at 5:30pm, so I'll only be able to watch half the broadcast. Fingers crossed I at least get to see M'Billi, would be ideal to also catch Bauderlique vs. Bois and Prestot vs. Świerzbiński, but I can live without seeing the women's bout even if Hamadouche is a feisty one.
After watching the Abdesselam fight I'm leaning towards him getting the stoppage. He seems to have found his punch when he moved up.
Behold, the world famous "human dribbled basketball" trick as performed by Świerzbiński: This content is protected His chin isn't totally glass, else he wouldn't have gotten up 7x, but poor enough that he didn't last a round with Lemieux, or two with HNN, or five with M'Billi or Langford.
